Tall Paul Adds to Magical Month for ITH

Earlier this month, ITHer J Mega collected the largest single multi-table tournament score for an ITH player in the community’s history when he was part of a five-way chop in the Poker Stars Sunday Million. He took home 74K for his troubles...

Just over two weeks later on Thursday, Aug. 24, the ITH family celebrated yet another banner night for the growing online community. With a bevy of loyal ITHers virtually railing, Tall Paul (a.k.a. Paul Taylor) won Party Poker’s Super Thursday and collected 31K in cash winnings. As if that were not enough, Taylor also reached the final table bubble of the Paradise Poker 90K in the same night, taking home $710. But he was not done there. One night later, Taylor final tabled Poker Stars $150 to complete an incredible 48 hours of poker! He finished sixth in the Stars $150, winning over 3K. Not a bad couple of days, or year, for that matter.

This year has been great for me, with a few big wins,” said Taylor, who hails from Liverpool, United Kingdom and holds a full-time job on top of his online poker efforts. “It all started when I won a $50 on Stars in February for $4,500. The following week, I finished second in the same tourney for another nice cash. A few weeks later, I entered a $300 – way above my bankroll, but I thought, ‘what the hell’ – and finished fifth for another $4,500.”

It has truly been a memorable 2006 for Taylor. He credited the tournament winnings he mentioned previously with funding his wedding two weeks ago. With his love life and poker game chugging full speed ahead, Taylor will not soon forget this exciting time of his existence. His previous high online cash occurred earlier this year in April when he won 8K in the Paradise Poker 100K ($30 rebuy). He has since obliterated that mark.

He said a double-up on the very first hand of the Party Super Thursday helped pave the way to his first place finish. Taylor flopped two pair (Q9) and outlasted his opponent’s open-ended straight draw (J10) to take down a huge early pot.

“From there, I played very aggressively, raising a lot when I was first to enter the pot with decent hands – suited connectors, high cards, etcetera” said Taylor. “In this way, I stole a lot of blinds and I was lucky enough to hit some flops when I was called. I managed to build my stack up nicely by doing this.”

Much like his colleague J Mega, Taylor was quick to acknowledge the support of his fellow ITHers, who rooted Tall Paul on last Thursday. His big Holdem score became the hot topic of the night on ITH.com.

“It was, and always is great to have the support from my fellow ITHers,” he said. “This site has helped me learn a great deal about playing poker and I'd like to thank everyone for their contributions to my poker education.”

Taylor hopes to repay ITH by continuing the hot online streak he has ridden for the duration of the year, while providing more thrills for the community. ITH salutes Paul “Tall Paul” Taylor, yet another bright shining star in the ITH family!
