Texas Holdem / Poker Strategy Author
Ryan Peck hails from Atlanta, Georgia, and comes to ITH with a background in sports journalism and broadcasting. Prior to joining the ITH team, he worked for 17 months as a sports editor for a pair of weekly newspapers in the metro Atlanta area. As a college student at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Ryan served as a play-by-play/color analyst for the Georgia Tech baseball team during the 2004 college baseball season for 91.1 FM in Atlanta. He joins ITH with a strong interest in online poker, and looks forward to delivering the best coverage possible as ITH continues to grow on a worldwide scale. |
| ITH Welcomes Barry Carter to Team |
As if by some odd, unforeseen twist of fate, Barry Carter initially visited internettexasholdem.com to follow up on a technical error regarding a column he published for a prominent gambling publication in England. One of his poker columns had inexplicably been credited to someone else – someone unknown to Carter at the time. He intended to get to the bottom of things.
“I found out about ITH after Matthew Hilger’s name was at the top of one of my articles in Online Gambler magazine following a mistake by the editor,” said Carter. “I typed his name into a search engine to find out who this fraud was and stumbled across ITH in the process,” he joked. As if the editor’s gaffe was meant to be, Carter has now joined ITH as yet another poker authority/columnist. He comes equipped with impressive writing experience through a pair of poker outlets in the United Kingdom, and is exciting about imparting his wisdom to ITH and sharing in the community experience. “I'm a good player, but a better teacher,” Carter said. “I want players to benefit from my knowledge, and, at the same time, I want to learn from all the other great players here.” Carter said he was introduced to the live poker scene three years ago, then began playing online Texas Hold‘em games roughly 18 months ago. Since that time, he has published 30 articles for World Poker Tour Magazine and the aforementioned Online Gambler. He now works part-time, while dedicating many of his hours to a blossoming poker career. “My career highlight was probably my first poker article that was printed in the UK edition of World Poker Tour Magazine,” he said. “But, from a playing perspective, it was making three simultaneous final tables on the very first day of going 'semi professional', earning me enough money on day one to cover four months of the earnings I was giving up.” Carter said he has already spent some time scouring and contributing to ITH’s posting forums. He posts under the alias "DaveShoelace", and he said the family feel evoked by ITH has made an impression on him already. “Most online poker forums end up becoming a childish flame war whenever somebody starts a thread with the best of intentions,” he said. “It is really nice to see a poker forum where everybody seems to want to help each others’ development, rather than taking turns to call each other a ‘donk’.” Please welcome Barry “DaveShoelace” Carter to the ITH team! ITH is sure to reap the benefits of its newest edition! |
