ITH’s Hilger Final Tables Poker Stars $150 |
 On Wednesday, November 1, ITH received some good news to begin the month when website creator and poker professional Matthew Hilger reached the final table of the Poker Stars $150. Hilger, who eventually finished in fifth place last Wednesday, took home $5,560 in prize winnings. The Stars $150 remains a nightly piece of the ITH 2006 Internet Player of the Year criteria.
"I haven't played a nightly online tournament in quite some time so it was a lot of fun to do well,” said Hilger, who competes under the username IonlyplayAA on Poker Stars. “I found the overall competition to be quite weak as most players were far too heavily focused on pre-flop action. Hopefully I'll be able to play a few more of these before year's end.” Prior to last Wednesday, Hilger had taken somewhat of a hiatus from online multi-table tournaments, focusing primarily on live play. During the summer, he won over 48K at the 2006 World Series of Poker after cashing in four events. Hilger is one of only 63 poker players in the world to have cashed in seven or more WSOP events since 2004. Two years ago, he set a personal WSOP best when we placed 33rd in the Main Event and won 80K for his efforts.
