Pokerroom no longer accepts players from the United States. Pokerroom has went to great lengths to improve their pokersite. They have a VIP Program which is very much in line with the industry standard. With decent customer service, great traffic and promotions as well as a plethora of freerolls and SnGs, Pokerroom is a great site to play at.

(Click for full rating of each of criteria)
PokerRoom.com Software

Pokerroom's software is good, but it is memory intensive and those players running it on Windows may experience bugs if they are running on small amounts of memory.

Players can utilize a download and non-download version of Pokerroom's software, as well as the ability to play through a cellphone. Pokerroom is also one of the few pokersites that supports Macintosh and Linux users.

Pokerroom's table graphics consists of a dark green felt, brown leather trim table and red-backed cards. Players cannot change the card back colors, although they may change the deck into 4-color mode. The background consists of tan leather chairs and a subdued red background. Players are given the opportunity to turn the avatars on and off. It's player notes feature, which can be tailored to suit your needs, is color-coded. A large text-box gives ample room for player notes. It also has one of the best on-table stat pages in the industry. Players may access the hand history function from the table.

Main menu items are easily navigable with the ability to switch between ring games and tournaments. The ring game menus provide players seeing the flop, average pot size and average hands per hour, on a table per table basis. Tournament information isn't as user friendly, however. Most of the in-game tournament information like which players are still playing, average stack sizes and tournament payouts are all web-site driven sub-routines which do not auto-update. This makes it difficult to track one's progress while actively paying attention to the tournament itself.

Players need to sit out of their table in order to access the cashiering services to the table. This can lead to missed hands and a failure to reload prior to the next dealt hand. Sitting out, while there is a waiting list at a table, can see a player taken off the table and his seat given to a player on the waiting list.

Overall, Pokerroom's software is decent and user-friendly.

    PokerRoom.com Tournaments with Overlays

tournament overlay is the result of guaranteed prize money that is not offset by the participant's buy-ins. As such, all freerolls and Player Point freerolls always offer an overlay.

Despite the disallowance of Americans to the Ongame Poker Network, Pokerroom and the other Ongame sites still maintain a sizeable site traffic which makes overlays a hit and miss proposition. Piscivorous Discretionary PokerRoom.com Bonus Rating

For some reason I always ran very well at Pokerroom and the now defunct Holdem Poker [which was absorbed by Pokerroom]. It seems I'd make $200-$300 everytime I chased a $100 bonus at either. However, many ITHers didn't run as well here and had many complaints about chasing bonuses at OnGame sites. Part of the knock against Pokerroom [and OnGame in general] are it's draconian rake at limits below $5/$10 and the hard time it is for players who chase their bonuses at limits of $1/$2 and lower. From my own personal experience, I find that I was able to clear an entire $100 bonus at Pokerroom in around 2600-2800 hands of $1/$2 or between 1000 and 1100 hands of $2/$4. Although, by no means, a quick-earning bonus, even at $1/$2 we're talking about 70 hands a day over 40 of the 60 days a player has to clear the bonus., depending on how loose the table are that a player is currently on. Unable to play at OnGame as an American, if the UIGEA ever gets repealed, and OnGame allows Americans back, I will re-establish my presence at Pokerroom, as I have always enjoyed both their bonuses and cash game limit tables.
