"Taz" takes down Stars Million Guaranteed on Sunday!
There’s no question that one of the high chapters in ITH lore and legend was forged last night:
Taz having put poker aside and needing just 150 FPPs to finish his $150 bonus (and that’s just the number of FPPs that the entry would provide him) drops $530 of his remaining $537 on red and gives the wheel a spin……
Taz being absolutely rip-roaring drunk and saying outrageous things in chat as destiny carried him ever-upward…
The party atmosphere as so many of us followed along...
It was great to experience it in IRC.

ASK AN EXPERT Was This A stupid Play or Not?
Posted by TicklePig
Everyone at the table gave me grief and said it was a stupid play. I don't think it was.
20K NL Holdem, the blinds are up to 300/600 I have 6500 in chips, Tourney avg was 11000 Full table
I get Ac, Jc
One guy goes all-in with a short stack of 2300 Guy before me calls, rest of table folds I call
The Flop: 2c, Qh, Qc
I have a flush draw, A high.
The other guy before me doesn't bet (and the other one is all-in)
I bet 1600 and the one guy folds leaving just me and Mr. All in.
I don't hit my flush but win the hand anyway.
Now, the guy that folded is freaking out telling me how stupid it was to bet into a dry side pot when I had the flush draw. A bunch of people agree with him. I don't
The way I see it first is that I would rather just be up against one other player, one who can't raise anymore. Secondly, I wanted the other guy out because of the board pair. Even if I hit my flush draw, there is the potential of a full house sitting there. Say the guy had a pair of 4's and a 4 came up on the river or turn, especially a 4c which would have made me bet my flush.
I only bet to get the other guy out because of the board pair.

LAST DAY OF BIDDING FOR COLUMBANITOS - WIN A 3 HOUR POKER LESSON FROM PIEMASTER!
As some of you know, we held a WSOP competition this summer at 53offsuit.com that raised over $1,000 to benefit Colombianitos (www.colombianitos.org).
Colombianitos is a charity that Diana and I work with that benefits children in need in Colombia. I am pleased to announce that we have finally found sponsors in Medellin (Diana's home town) for a new project to be opened later this year. We are co-sponsors of the project and are very excited for the upcoming inauguration. This project will benefit several hundred children in one of the poorest neighborhoods of the city. Poker can make a difference!
Nside won the grand prize of the summer competition and has volunteered to offer the poker lessons he won up to auction to benefit Colombianitos. All of the proceeds of this auction will go directly to Project Medellin and if you win, your donation is tax deductible if you are a US citizen.
There are four sets of 3-hour lessons from the following: Piemaster Osmosis21 Toronexti Tall Paul.
A big thanks goes out to Bullajami, Nsidestrate, our four experts providing poker lessons, and everyone who supported Colombianitos in the competition.
We will be auctioning off these lessons one at a time. The first 3-hour lesson up for auction is from Piemaster. Piemaster's expertise is in Limit Hold'em and the mental aspects of the game.
The opening bid is set at $90 and increases in $5 increments. The winner can donate via credit card, Poker Stars, or Full Tilt. Please respond to this thread with your bid amount. The deadline midnight July 31st. Please show these guys and Colombianitos your support!
Thanks, Matthew

IPOY Movers and Shakers (July 10 to July 23 )
Written by Ryan Peck
Tuesday, July 24, 2007
Matthew "mattg1983" Graham and RagingJack made the most headway in the online poker realm over the past 14 days. Paced by a second-place finish in the Full Tilt $1,000 buy-in on Monday, July 16, and bolstered by a separate trio of final table finishes, mattg1983 racked up $53,932 in winnings from July 10 to July 23 and jumped one spot to No. 4 in the latest Internet Player of the Year rankings - powered by IPR. Right behind Graham was RagingJack, totaling three final tables and $46,913 in cash winnings. His efforts were good enough to allow RagingJack to ascend to No. 20 in the new IPR IPOY standings. RagingJack's key scores likewise came on July 16, when he won both the
PokerStars $150 ($33,169) and the Full Tilt 32K Guaranteed ($9,906)!
