My 2009 goals were fairly vague, but I have a much better idea of what I want to do in 2010.

Playing Goals:

1) Maintain SN all year - I have to do this for my staking in general. I think this will entail playing ~15k 200nl HU hands on PS - meaning I'd probably play 30-45k HU hands/month. If it doesn't pan out I can always just mass multi-table 100nl or 5/10 LHE to maintain the status monthly.

2) Get really good at NL HU. So far in the last 2 months I've played ~11k hands at 100nl and ~16k hands at 200nl. Made ~20 buyins at 100nl and up ~4 buyins at 200nl. The biggest issue is just maintaining patience throughout matches - which I've been working on. I want to be playing 400nl+ by March.

My staking goals are as follows:

1) Obtain 10+ high buyin players (playing $163+ on a regular basis). I currently have 4 - so this shouldn't be that big of an issue.

2) Potentially open up a hedge fund type thing in the first quarter. I don't want to set this up as a 100% concrete goal since I'm not sure how this will pan out. I will be looking at this over the next month or two and will know by March what's what.

3) Set myself up to send 10+ guys to the WSOP in '11. The goal here will be to target the side-series such as the venetian and Caesars along with the lower buyin WSOP events. Depending on BR size take a look at the ME.

Nice goals Toro is this a Community thread for 2010 goals? If so I need some time to think things over I am at some what of a cross roads here and need to get some time away from the game to plan out my goals for 2010 and beyond.

If this is the thread to put those goals expect another post from me sometime early next year. I hope everyone had a good Christmas and I wish you all a safe and Happy New year.

I was thinking something like a 2010 progress thread might be a good idea (as opposed to, though as well as, pure goals), to include those who might not want to set specific targets. Might also get a bit more traffic than the 2009 thread has.

I have no specific goals for 2010 ..

I have a small goal to start the year off with ... and if / when i achieve that goal, i will move onto the next one ..

2010 is going to be the year of achieving many small goals instead of trying one huge goal for the year ... which i tend to fail at badly Confused

Hopefully the sum of many small achievements will mean i acheived a lot during the year.

Finish 2010 with a larger BR than I started it with.

Become a better poker player.

Get in a pot vs Nside and have my hand hold up just once.

You should try to keep your goals realistic.

You should try to keep your goals realistic.

I considered this far more likely than actually outdrawing you.

Ugh.

My goals are downright wimpy compared to what I've read so far, but I'll put them down quickly anyway.

In 2009, I was slightly less than break-even, and I think a good part of this was due to playing above my stake level. As a consequence, I'm having to start 2010 at (dear god) $5 NL until I get my bankroll up.

I'm using Fergeson's bankroll management course as a guide (no more than 5% of your BR at any one table, leave when you have 20% of your BR at the table, STTs at 5% or less of your BR, MTTs at 2% or less of your BR). It's strict, but not as strict as Harrington's, which is what I like about it.

On Stars, I do plan to buy more chips in order to take advantage of the New Year's Bonus and stake myself to at least $10NL. I also want to maintain Silver Status throughout the year at the newly-decreased FPP requirement.

On Tilt, going to continue to take the free courses until I can get a CardRunners membership going.

As for Bodog, probably just going to focus on tournaments due to the softer nature of the competition and the frequent overlays.

Hope to be staked for $50NL on Stars by mid-year, and on Tilt by the end of the year.

Will continue to read and post here of course.

Wishing everyone a prosperous 2010.

Aloha,

Steve

When I feel up to playing poker again my goals are:

1) Ship a donkment with 1000+ players. I don't care if it's a freeroll, it's just something that I want to achieve.

2) Get a record MTT cash (About $1400 atm).

3) Make more money from poker than I have in previous years. Haven't got an exact figure for this but hopefully it won't be close enough to compare!

My goal for the decade is to play the WSOP Main Event and feel like I deserve to be there.

Only one major goal for me, and that's to practice good bankroll management - something I haven't been very good at in the past.

Actually play some poker Razz

Build my very, very small online bankroll back up to what it was before I bought a house.

Play successfully in my poker group and qualify for WSOP event.

Play well in San Diego and Vegas WSOP circiut events so I can expand my WSOP plans this year

Have fun playing poker

Ideally, my goal is to be goaless a la Tommy Angelo.

Second goal, to reach a comfortable BR for $50 NL so 30 - 40 + BIs.
