Llan makes new thread and hawk appears from nowhere .....

Its fair to say ive missed owning your soul on here.
There is a big misunderstanding between the concept of talent and skill, talent you have naturally but skill is only developed by hours and hours of beating on your craft... nobody got to where they were without hard work.

Been trying to get back to basics ... and try and learn to put in half decent sessions without losing my mind.

Ive finally found a poker system im comfortable with on my return .. after messing with TN2 ive decided on 2 stacks of 7 tables and it knows which stack has the less tables too which helps.

Will be upping it to 8 tables each shortly ..

Sat down today and said i would just focus on making the right decisions as best i can and try and carry on until i hit 1000 hands ... got a hand counter for that.

Did not check my results all session and stopped once i past the 1k hand mark.. took me 89 minutes and was up a buy in despite winning at showdown stat of low 30's

Good start with the mental side ... do that a few times and get used to it and improve further.

Slowly but surely ... im starting to accept the realities of poker on Grim Ltd ... or it could be poker in general but that way of thinking is less fun.

Maybe the whole gist of poker is to grind away and keep raising and watching the wrong boards come down literally every time and just wait until the next one comes along.

Not much else to it really ... just keep plugging away and eventually you will hit some boards and be lucky to get paid off ... does not need to happen very often to keep that bb/100 win rate up to a satisfactory level.

And then every now and again you will have a weee little nightmare session or two but they will often be countered and more by better heater sessions.

Kinda boring really ... but that is the game these days.

I seem to constantly struggle to improve post flop ... a lot of my winning big pots and flopped hands ... but i sure do lose a few pots to bad run outs ... can i have a few the other way please dealer ?

Overall this month ive played just over 10k hands and i think ive done ok mentally wise.

Checked my old database and my record is 40k hands in a month ... 20k hands in the last 5 days to scupper Dogs's plans ( Oct 2012 )

Then its down to 31k, then 27k, and then under 23k hands ..

Considering how many tables i normally play then its a truly shocking set of stats ... basically ive never really made any effort at all in poker over the years...

Well that will change in February.

No doubts at all i will smash my PB ... i would be willing to give odds of 5/1 that i will not pass 50k hands at least.

Going to have to ignore how the Stars RNG works ... because the fek thing never ever changes !

Its the same shit over and over again ... every single time i raise with any pocket pair or 3 bet with hands like 88 to JJ ... the flop has a A with K, Q or J .... literally 95% of the time.

I 3 bet with AK and the flop is 678 ... its utter madness.

Today is your typical Stars BS ... just absolutely impossible for me to improve post flop ... i mean just never ... any combo just never improves and yet .. i have AQ vrs AK .. then the turn is a A.

Finally hit a flush on the turn and it gives someone a boat ..

I wouldn't know. They haven't let me play there since April 2011.
Harold Camping was wrong. The world ended on April 15th, 2011.

Hi Pisc, nice to see you again, hope all is well with you.

What kind of time scale do you reckon you will be allowed to play on Stars again ?

I better get a move on then ... ive only played one session this month and that was on the 1st.

Just tidying up a few things and then its all systems go for the next few months at least !

In case you cared, hawk cajoled Llan into joining Facebook. Llan is like that rare Panini sticker that everyone is after, so I made sure I was first to collect him (well, that, and because he was having a few, erm, difficulties locating hawk, and required some assistance...). I also picked up hawk (a shiny club badge) and the shark (ubiquitous sticker that everyone has five of in their swaps pile). Leofric has also connected.

If you're on there, feel free to add us. I played the who's who game with hawk - a bit like a real life version of mafia - where I picked the ITHers from his friends list, but haven't identified you. I thought I knew your first name, but if you're connected to any of the above, then I possibly don't.

There are a few ITHers I've not collected, but I have many of them. I don't believe I'm connected to Pisc.

I could spot five you had that hawk is missing, but I'm sure there are more. I was a bit surprised at how much knowledge I had stored away over the years though, both in recognising faces from the few photos that have been posted after meet ups and the number of names that were familiar.

Every so often we have an active poker discussion and I find one or two more. I actually did spot Pisc today. He's friends with kt, Bull and Raisin from my friends.

Sadly I feel this is becoming more and more like an episode of "this is your life" with all these blasts from the past.

Either way it always gives me a nostalgic feeling to see a Llan thread derailed onto a different topic due to lack of activity on the poker front
    To infirmity and beyond
