All Roads lead to Llan - Redemption Time - 2014 Style

Mark this as the start of something special.

Going to give myself one final year to achieve something special in this game, so im going to give it my all.

Therefore im going to give myself a really tough challenge to start the year off.

    January Goals :

    [ ] 100k hands of 6 max

[ ] Watch the whole series of Moving Beyond Microstakes on DC

    [ ] Read at least 50% of TMGOP2

[ ] Read at least 50% of Treat Poker Like a Business

[ ] Purchase Applications of Poker by Matt Jandas

[ ] Keep a diary of my sessions and rate each session on Technical, Mental and Focus

[ ] Gold Status ( did not achieve this once in 2013 )

Ive been really struggling at 6 max so far, basically break even after 8k hands on the regular tables but i shall put in a huge stint in January and re-evaluate in February.

So the idea of playing 100k hands of 6 max will really test everything i struggle with, heck i cannot get past 40k hands that often when im 16 tabling FR.

    RULES OF THE THREAD

    1. Not a single negative rant is allowed, if anyone is bursting at the seams then they must post a cute kitten gif or something similar.

    2. Abusing hawk is allowed, as long as they refrain from holding back ... if your going to abuse hawk then do it right.

    3. Everything else is acceptable ... even giving me a shed load of abuse if i start to unravel.

    Other stuff.

[ x ] A Happy New Year to everyone at ITH, may you all achieve everything you hope for in 2014.

    [ x ] 10k posts - Thanks ITH =D>

Tut - credit where it is due - congrats on the 10k posts!

And all fingers are crossed for everyone on ITH to have a successful year.

Since we're all being positive at the moment - how many tables of 6max are you planning on playing at one time - I've never really gone past 5 tables but I'm sure six would be comfortable but not so sure after that. That said it should be possible to play 2/3rds of the tables you play FR so in theory that would mean 12 for you. I only say this to get some kind of gauge on the hours needed to reach 100k hands.

I have set slightly more modest goals for myself:
    [ ] Move up to 25NL
    [ ] Reach silver status
[ ] Earn enough to pay off my Xmas Credit Card Bill!
    To infirmity and beyond

Re: All Roads lead to Llan - Redemption Time - 2014 Style

Playing 10 tables , i think that is optimal but might move it to 12 at some point.

Played two 1 hour sessions so far which got me 712 and 606 hands.

I think its roughly 5 hours a day to get to 3k+ hands.

Mentally - first session went ok and i was up 145bb but i lost all that at the start of the 2nd session when i could not win a hand at all for the first 15 minutes.... basically saw me get annoyed again

But ..... i carried on to reach my goal of the hour mark and ended up around 30bb for the session.

So ... need to have more patience ... but playing on tables that have at least 3 idiots can get frustrating when you keep isolating them and missing !

Early doors to a big year.

Not sure i can handle another session ... 2k hands for today me thinks.

You just do not get these days on the full ring tables, i may return soon.

I have missed so so many turn and rivers today which has somehow coincided with me being coolered post flop a mad amount of times ...

Im down 110bb in 2k hands and im slightly shell shocked ... a part of me is happy at that, but i cannot have days like i had today too often ... it would break me.

Maybe this is what 6 max is all about ... just mad stuff all the time ... i think i prefer the steady earn rate of FR.

I may change my tune when i get the mad 6 max heater ... but its been 10k hands now and ive nothing to show for it apart from a serious amount of coolers.

My FF downswing is in full effect

Re: All Roads lead to Llan - Redemption Time - 2014 Style

Played another 30 minute session ... it was not great, basically just a carry on from what went on earlier.

Possibly one of the worst days ive had, not really in terms of money lost but the amount of missed boards, bad run outs and general coolers ive had to take today just knackered me out mentally.

I will give 6 max another 10k hands ... im just not cut out to play against players that just dont understand the rules ... just too much frustration when it goes like today.

Still .. nearly 2.3k hands .. not bad considering the BS i took.

    I miss FR

Day 2 and my first change of plan

Played 2 more sessions so far and it became too much ... ended up basically even after 1.3k hands but it was completely ridiculous again ..

Im basically down about 85bb in over 12k hands at these regular 6 max tables and im just gobsmacked how ive ran against really bad players virtually from the off.

There is only so often i can get my QQ 4 bet my K6o and see them constantly hit to pair...

There is a part of me that thinks i should just carry on because it just cannot continue like this and something huge is around the corner ... but im off back to 16 tabling FR.

I played around 70k hands of FR reg tables and was just over 7bb/100 .... thats easily good enough for me with far less variance ( touch wood ).

Just well narked how my spell at 6 max has gone ... just looks like a license to print money to me .. so many awful players.

That always makes me laugh ...

God bless you FR ... you are always there for me in these dark times .. im sorry i looked over to the dark side and left you for a short while.

FR is like a good women ... she does not hold grudges that my eyes wandered over to the loose 6 max tarts with their no morals attitude.

She repays me with a nice 3 buy in upswing in 1500 hands .. what a women ... pure class.

Over 5k hands so far ... should be easier to increase now im back with my good women.

Running at -796bb/100 with aces so far this year.
