Hi all. I haven't been here in about 2 or maybe even 3 years. Stopped playing poker altogether from that time. I wasn't very good yet I think, but I wasn't one of the worst fishies either. I mostly played Limit ring games at low limits. The last I did was 2/4, but I think I stepped up way too soon.
Anyways, now for my question on advice. I want to get back into the game. What site(s) should I start playing at and what limits?
To define what I want and like and am doing at the moment:
I would mostly like to try SnG's and some cheap MTT's. I like the tourney idea and it's easy to get a game every now and then I think. I will probably be casual player, just doing a couple of them a week at most. I want to do No Limit this time.
I like reading about poker and strategy, so that's what I started doing: getting out the books I already had on the shelves. I just finished the first Harrington NLHE book (read it a couple of years ago as well) and will start on the second Harrington now (got it with one of your offers back then )
I already have (old) accounts at various sites, most of which are probably still working. That's why a lot of first deposit and ITH offers will not work for me, so I thought it was a good idea to start at a site I already had an account and play some to get used to it before I try new sites and do some bonus chasing along the way. I have just deposited at Pacific again. Was this a good choice (I know about issues with their software, but I think the fish is good for a start there)
I also have some spreadsheets to fill out along the way so I will be keeping records from the start. Maybe it's good to use PT from the start too (trial first)? But pacific doesn't work well I hear or I need some Handgrabber that costs more and of which I cannot seem to download a trial from anymore.
I hope it's not too much of a braindump and I hope some of you could spare some advice about these things to get me started, help me along the way or help me lay out a roadmap.
Thanks in advance!
edit: somehow I still received $20 in bonus on my $50 deposit. I hope I didn't 'under-deposit' and I find it strange I got a bonus. Somebody knows why this could be?
my advice would to start using software like pokertracker/pokeroffice a.s.a.p as you can more easily identify what you are doing wrong.. and what others are doing wrong.
as for where you should start, it depends on your bankroll. i would recommend starting small and setting goals that will help you stay motivated, regardless of the stakes.
hope this helps a little, and welcome back to the tables..

Thanks for the reply.
An update:
Well, yesterday I played my first poker in a long time. It was a $0.50+$0.20 SnG and I won it! Ok, I didn't play all hands as best as I should have, but it was nice to win.
I know, 40% fee is way way way too much, but I didn't fully realize that until it was over. I also know that it says absolutely nothing that I have won.
It was as people say though: they start to go all-in without any reason in the beginning; they play very passively and don't like to raise or just raise the standard 2BB that the rasie button has as a default, mostly giving the draws enough odds to chase.
It was hard to start though. Everything went so fast. I didn't know where to look for the current pot or for who was in, who called, who raised etc. etc. At the end it went smoother of course, but it was something I needed to get accustomed to again. Another thin I noticed is that 20 seconds is really not much time to really think something over. Looking what happened, thinking about what to do, raising the slider or typing in what to bet/raise, it was difficult at some points to do it within 20 seconds. And these are the slowest SnG's they have if I'm correct.
Some more (or rephrased) questions:
Is Poker Tracker a good thing to start with for SnG's too?
Should I go to a different site so I can use Poker Tracker better (without Handgrabber that is)?
Is a HUD like Gametime+ or PokerAceHUD worth it for SnG's (at this stage)?
About my bankroll: I have $50 at Pacific (+$20 bonus that maybe I cannot chase at the limits I play and with the time I'll be investing), but I can easily add some more, like double it. At Pacific the lowest relative fee at low buy-ins is at $5 (10%). I think that's too high to start. They have $2.50+$0.40, which is reasonable at 16%. $1.00 is already at 25% which is pretty (too?) high I guess and I already mentioned the 40% at $0.50.
Any advice for a good starting limit? (up to $100 BR)
Could switch site if that was the better option for a 'new' player.
