I was tempted to leave a rating and a silly comment, but I won't!
Seems like ITH is on a fitness high at the moment. I went for my first propper run today for ages, I felt awesome afterwards and found it much easier than I thought I would. |

Nicely done!
That's a cool site. It may even get me to try and log my runs again ... I'm terrible and keeping notes.
I've got an early morning hill workout. Glad I've got some ITH company!

Sticking my stair climbing nose in here That is a cool site, I'm really envious of the scenery you get to see during your workout, all I get is to look at a parking lot or tv. The occasional hot 20 something too but I'd much rather I was looking out over the ocean or harbor while doing my climbs. You should get the Mrs to take a pic & post of you running along the waterfront.
Keep up the great work guys and see you at the Boston Marathon |

Wow MX, that's a great site. I didn't know about it. Good luck and keep up the good work. I've had to start riding a bike and swimming more because the back has been acting up for the last week but I'm not going to lose my will to succeed!

Are you considering it? It would be great to get an ITH showing there.
I'll try to qualify (again) in May. I need a 3:20:00. My best is a 3:28:21, but I'm currently feeling better than my best.

Ok, I was really wanting to give the body a break tonight, but when I got home, the wife had the treadmill out and said she had walked today. I then started to feel a little guilty and progressed into stretching mode. I am really enjoying the running outdoors and being able to show you the actual scenery is pretty cool
Heres tonights run. Broke over 3 miles and was hurtin by the time I was done too. My daughter accompanied me this time on the bike. Eventually, I'm going to get the whole family in shape.

Run #3 is now in the books and tonight went much better as the temperature was about 8-10 degrees cooler and the humidity level was lower as well. I think I have also a key to this: Music! Monday I ran w/ nothing. Tuesday the battery died about 1/3 mile into the run, but tonight I made sure I had full battery and it really helped out. My goal tonight was to hit 4 miles and I came up just a bit shy. I easily could have gone another 3/4-1 mile tonight, but I misjudged my distance from the house when I decided to start heading back towards home. Wont let that happen again.

My next run, I hope continue and complete the full "Shore Dr" all the way out to Mayo road. That should add roughly 3/4-1 mile to today's run and put me at 4.5mi or so. |

My older daughter has been riding along on my weekend runs (not all of them) since she was 6 ... I really cherish those times. She 14 now and even bikes with me on my favorite 10 miler that gets into some trails. She's also becoming quite the runner herself.
Those runs with her accompaniment are some of my fondest.

I am trying to figure out why I HATE running.
Think my HS gym teacher ruined me.
I need counseling.

Nicely done!
Do you know how your foot lands and the type of shoe that would be best for you? There are stabilizing shoes, motion control shoes, high cushioning shoes, neutral shoes, etc.
I supinate ... meaning that the outside of my foot takes the majority of my weight. If I get into the wrong kinds of shoes, I'll trash my knees within 50 miles.
Don't underestimate the value of spending time in a credible running store with runners selling the shoes. They should be able to evaluate your mechanics and get you into a proper fitting shoes.
Also ... if you've got more than 500 miles on your shoes, or if you use them for other activities, you're probably in the market for another pair that should be used only for running. |

I've been harping on MX to do this on our other forum as well! So very important. Also, not sure if this part is true but I was told when I first started running that it's good to have 2 pairs of shoes that you dedicate to running because the shoes take more then 24hours to regain form from stretching when you run. I never did follow the advice but curious if you have heard that?
