Been playing SNGS for 4 or 5 years now, but the last 1,000+ SNGS ive played at the $12 and $24 level have been break even, and theres something wrong with my game. I've been flirting dangerously close to BR disaster the last 6 months so I decided to start from the bottom again. I am going to play 300-500 $6.50 Turbo SNG's as a bankroll rebuilder before moving back to my normal limits.
My goals here are to 1: get my br to where it should be, and 2: evaluate what I was doing wrong in my previous SNGs. I am almost certain that I was too aggro on the bubble and in bigger blind levels. The $12's and $24's call VERY loosely on the bubble now, and I have really struggled with not being able to build my stack the old fashion way...stealing blinds.
So...here we go:

| I'll be keeping a eye on your progress as you go along. I am not sure if I'll get in my 500 STT's this month that I set out to do. I kinda took this past week off and only played around 40 of them. |

I wasn't around during the early days of the poker boom but everything I've heard suggests that online poker (especially SnGs) has changed dramatically since those early days. The more that gets published about strategy, the more everyone learns about it, and the tried-and-true strategies become less successful. I think the whole online SnG world, at all levels, has adapted, and the blind stealing strategy is a perfect example. Everyone knows that people look to steal blinds late, especially on the bubble, so many players have adapted by widening their calling ranges expecting steals. That, in turn, renders the blind stealing strategy less effective.
Since you've been around for 4-5 years, maybe the problem is that you haven't adapted your game to the new online poker world? |

| I really wish I'd discovered poker before last year. There seems to be a general consensus that the overall standard of play was lower 4-5 years ago. |

Pretty crappy night today. Was getting brutalized PP vs Ax rags all night on the bubble, as well as losing overall on 80/20's. Oh well, thats SNG's for you. Back to the grind tomorrow.

Wack are you done playing on Cake for good? Also this is Wack right I get you and Dank mixed up in here since u use a different name lol. Anyways if your not against playing on Cake I got a possible strategy for you.
I have turned my last $104.63 into almsot $700 now since April 1st playing these sngs on Cake. If your not intrested that is cool I just thought I would let you in on what I think is a easy way to build back up the BR with less variance.

I guess sng's just are not for me. Casper is obv a good winning player and after 280 sng's he is down ~$50.
That would be too hard for me to deal with. I have told myself to hang in there but after 17 turbos with no loot Im done and will just grind NL ring.
As far as the cake sng's go, my good friend is using my account that only had $17 in it and he ran it up to ~$150. I guess the $1.20 and $5.50 games are very soft from what he tells me. (BigJohnNY on cake/sharkscope)
Just wanted to say GL casper and I enjoy following your progress. I wish I could hang in there like you do. |

| checkmate, why is it turbos or bust for you? Why not try regular speed SnGs? |

| Regs take around 60-90 mins. I do like them but sometimes its hard to get one started knowing your going to be busy for that long. |

359 SNGS in. I ran absolutely horrid for a while, and i let it get to my head. I finally got things turned around today, hopefully for the long run. Today I played a bunch of the Turbo 300 chip SNGS on FTP. They are pretty easy if you just play ICM on them. I will finish the 500 out on $6.50's and decide where to go next from there. Also during one of my tilting nights, i threw in a couple $24's which I lost all of, and a few $11's, which over inflated what I was actually losing on $6.50's. So at least $100 of that loss is on me being an idiot jumping up limits.
And yes wes, I am wack, and I am done with cake
May: Sucked
June: looking good 1 day in lol
