I'm just wondering how the math works in the typical staking deal, say a 40/60 split among 5 backers? Is there a basic formula posted that we can use to calculate winnings/shares, similar to the slug posting? I know it's a basic question but I don't see any posts about it and it might simplify things. And do the entry fees usually get deducted first? Or how does the math for payouts usually work?
Thanks

It kind of depends on the deal. I prefer deals where I put some of the buy-in and then pay my backers 1:1. So if I buy 70% of my action that is the perecentage of any winnings that I get and my backers get a proportional amount back.

Alot of staking deals work so that the players gets a cut (premium) for his play. So if I want a 10% premium and I bought 50% of myself I's take 60% of all cashes and then pay my staker pool the other 40% split between lets say 5 backers proportional to their stake in me.

Some deals are for when the backers put up 100% of the buy-in. These usually work so that the backers get the majority of the winnings, because they risked their money. If the deal is a 60/40 deal the stakers usually get their stakes back first then 60% of any remaining profits and the player gets 40% of whatever is left after paying the sateks back.

In this case if:

Buy-in = $100
Staker A stakes: $50
Staker B stakes $20
Staker C stakes: $30

Winnings: $600

So the player won $600 for $500 profit. First he pays back the stakers their staked amount. Out of the remaining $500 he gets 40% or $200 and the staker A gets: $150 (200 total), staker B gets $60 (80 total), staker C gets $90 (120 total)

Payouts are (from $600 in winnings)

The Player: $200
Staker A: $200
Staker B: $80
Staker C: $120

---

There are lots of other types of arrangements but those are most common for one shot deals. Continous staking usually accumulates the stakes and thats called payback. The player has to pay the staker back any amount accumulated before he takes his share of the profit split.

Thanks Taz, that helps clarify the most it. For other arrangements that are more diverse I'll ask for help to prevent errors and any confusion.
