With EFT's becoming more difficult, if not impossible, I was wondering if the next step is to block US banks from cashing/depositing checks from the online poker sites.
I am becoming worried that at some point the US goverment will say it is illegal for checks from these companies to be deposited. I doubt the individual banks will be able to screen the checks at the time of deposit, but what is to stop them from determining later that a check from the company that owns/created pokerstars was deposited?
A bank could easily give you credit for the initial deposit and then take it back or put a freeze on your account until the "issue" was cleared up. Perhaps they let the first deposit go through but flag your account as a potential gambler.
Anyways, just concerned we won't be informed until it is too late and our money will be hard to get back.

Highly unenforceable. That wouldn't be too far short of dusting cash for fingerprints to make sure it wasn't touched by somebody who works in the offices of an offshore poker site.
The UIGEA specifically did not require banks to do anything for check processing. The general view is that it is impossible to stop paper checks effectively.

As it stands the UIGEA did not require banks to do anything, but I thought they could define whatever they wanted in the 9 months post passing the bill.
I am glad to here that in general people don't think this is possible, but I don't really see why this couldn't easily be done. There must be routing #s or something on the checks that would identify them as a check to be looked into. I am not familiar at all with banking procedures so maybe this is not possible.........I certainly hope nothing more happens......
