Just been moved to the table so no reads. I think PF is fairly standard, although thoughts welcomed.

Not sure about the flop bet and call of the check raise though.

I'd call and hope he made that play with a flush draw, weaker PP, or maybe hoping he was being bold with A Q, and NOT a set...though I think you can expect to see a set of 8's here about half the time. I think the pot odds easily justify a call here with 10's.

I'd call as played.

Preflop I'd raise less or just call behind the raiser though. You not going to like lots of flops holding TT facing an EP raiser. Keep the pot small and hope to hit a set. You also give youself a bit more room to make a laydown if you think he slowplayed a bigger pair, like he may have on this hand.

Early on I prefer to call preflop raisers with middle pocket pairs in these spots.

What if the preflop raiser is in the HJ and you're in the SB? I'm not sure what you mean by 'these spots', but I think position, stack size, and opponents table image dictate how to play these mid pairs.

Taz - the thinking was to raise UTG and MP1 out of the pot and play HU with the shorty - even if we're flipping there's enough dead money to make this a decent spot for me.

Thoughts on this line - does it have any validity?

That was the thinking anyway, and it nearly came off except MP1 decided to come along OOP with 78o.

Incidentally, shorty had KK, but I luckboxed a T on the river Smile

Just a thought on this though.

The short stacks raise is in itself interesting, if he wanted to just make a move he could have easily pushed all-in. As it is the raise of 150tc builds the pot to 325 giving the blinds/early limpers 3/1 to call. Maybe its a hindsight thing but it does look likes he wants action here!

Also I'd be a little wary of the UTG limp. Yes a lot of people do it to see a cheap flop with something speculative as seems to be the case here but again it could indicate the kind of hand TT is going to play badly against.

That said calling preflop also gives you the problem of what kind of flop you want to see. It seems likely the short stack would push on any flop due to his stack size but with a likely selection of overcards and at least 2 other players out there you might not be inclined to call.

Interesting hand though, certainly anything bigger than tens would make the reraise to isolate the best play but as it is I'd be more inclined to call.

I didn't see how short the preflop raiser was in my initial response...

Given the stack sizes of the limper and the raiser I think that I still prefer a call preflop. I don't think the raise is wrong though.

If you raise out the limpers you only stand to win 555 chips if you beat the shorty. A reasonable size pot but it doesnt make a huge difference to your chip stack. I call here hoping that the early player call along and give me a chance to flop a big hand. If you flop a good but vunerable hand (like an overpair to the board) the most likely scenario is for the EP limpers to check to the shorty who will push. You can raise the limpers out then and still get away if one of them shoves over top of you. If hit big and flop a set you can call the shorties push and hopefully someone comes along for the ride with a second best hand. I think this gives you the best chance to win a big pot without comitting too many chips.

I think your raise is ok because we expect the limpers to fold preflop and I'm 100% fine with TT against the shorty. But if the limpers call we are going to have more awkward flop decisions when they check to us.
