I did some searching tonight and was suprised to find out that 2 27.5" monitors would save me over $300 compared to 1 30" monitor. The wife wnats me to keep shoping around but I feel like this is a good deal. So I am asking for some help in my search for the perfect set up. I curently play 9 sngs at a time and am sure I could play at least 18 a session.

Good deal or keep looking? |

How are you going to be laying out the tables?
If you're cascading you'll do fine with a 24" monitor with 1920x1200 resolution. Personally, I actually enjoy working on a single monitor with higher resolution than 2 monitors (laptop vs desktop for me).
Having all the tables spread out is alright when ur 9-tabling above like 12-tables and it's just way too much eye-scanning and you can't keep up with all the tables because of it (also more mouse movement). |

The eye movement between too many tables spread out will cause your eyes to hurt over a shorter time period compared to cascading them Cascading allows you to focus on the same stuff with much much less eye movement.
Just a thought. |

All depends on what you want. I can very easily 12 table on my single laptop screen and have played 16+ before on it. It's all about the resolution. I have a 17" with 1920x1200 res. The 30" has a much higher resolution (or should) so it basically comes down to whether or not you want to run 2 monitors or not. I've done both and I liked using 2 monitors, but it's been impractical for me to do so I just run a single atm. The "perfect" set-up imo is a 30" with 2-20" turned portrait on each side, but that's more than most people ever need.
edit: Since mx posted and mentioned cascading while I was typing my post. I have only used cascade a few times and disliked it. It helps me keep track of players/tables when I have them spread out, plus you get to see more action. It's definitely whatever works for you, but I like being able to snap-fold hands on other tables while I'm thinking about a tough hand instead of timing out on all the tables that are waiting.
Edit again since I didn't answer the original question. I think no, it's not a good deal and I would keep looking. Keep an eye out at Dell and try to find some coupons. You can usually find good deals there but might have to wait a while. Bigger is not always better and having 18 tables spread out over 2-27" screens will be A LOT more eye movement and mouse movement than 2-20 or 22" screens and you can have the same resolution on both. |

By looking at all of the action I seem to play better then when cascading. I would also probably only use 1 monitor for playing on and 1 for pxf,CR,Stox Videos while playing unless I set it up like I was wacthing a 55" TV. I do have the perfect chair in my room ready for such an ocasion but I would need to find a good sized desk that is low to the ground. Anyways please keep the thoughts coming.

| Well since I have been having computer issues I think I have decided to buy a new computer. Wal Mart has a decent deal on a Dell xps for $998 that I am thinking of getting. |

| If you want a Dell, call them up. You can almost always get the price reduced or something thrown in for free if you're prepared to haggle. |
