For some bizarre reason I can't seem to access ITH from my home computer anymore, even though I can continue to access no problem from work (using IE at both). This problem just started about a week ago. At home I always get the "Website cannot be displayed, maybe you're not connected to the internet or made a mistake typing in the address, etc" message.

Anyone know why this would be and how I can fix it?

Malteg is reporting a similar problem on the fantasy football site.

Every time I get that message, I click 'refresh' and the page loads.

If you can get to a command prompt (in Windows, Start...Run and type cmd and hit enter), try executing "ping internettexasholdem.com" (minus the quotes). It should time out if you're not connecting, but I'm interested in what IP address it thinks it's trying to connect to. You can do the same on the good connection and see if the IPs are different, as well.

You can also run the command noted here, http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=330, to clear your local DNS cache in Windows 2000/XP. That should happen on a reboot anyway, which I'm assuming you've already done, but it can't hurt.

I'm posting this for Malteg and will pass on any further suggestions.

He wrote in response to the "ping inquiry":

"Here's what I got:

Ping request could not find host internettexasholdem.com. Please check the name and try again. "

That's what I thought too. He has already tried that and a re-boot.ed with no success. Seems strange.

To jmbreslin -- did your problem get resolved?

Haven't had a chance to try yet because I couldn't access this thread since these replies were posted...

I'll print up the suggestions and try from home this weekend.

Umm, not entirely sure what this means...

I've tried to connect every evening for the past week or so, and my computer is always turned off each night, so I have rebooted plenty of times. But I'll try it anyway.

Do you run XP?

If so, try going to your command prompt program which is DOS. I think you can find it by going to Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.

Once there type this exactly including the space between ping and inter.... -- ping internettexasholdem.com

My response looks like this
Quote:

ping www.internettexasholdem.com

Pinging internettexasholdem.com [72.9.244.217] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 72.9.244.217: bytes=32 time=34ms TTL=52
Reply from 72.9.244.217: bytes=32 time=35ms TTL=52
Reply from 72.9.244.217: bytes=32 time=34ms TTL=52
Reply from 72.9.244.217: bytes=32 time=33ms TTL=52

Ping statistics for 72.9.244.217:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 33ms, Maximum = 35ms, Average = 34ms

It would appear that malteg had a DNS lookup failure, based on the little information he provided.

No luck. Tried the ping trick and I got a "no response from internettexasholdem.com" response. Also tried the cache clearing trick with no luck. Any other ideas?

Jm,

If you can catch me on IRC I'll be happy to jump in and try and help. (UK based).

The other thing you need to try is a traceroute

From dos you would do tracert 72.9.244.217
