Say you have a hand which you are only going to like if it flops two pair or trips (usually referring to a call on the button in a multiway pot or in the blinds), what are the odds of flopping one of those hands?
Also, I don't know if it's possible to calculate, but can you figure the odds of flopping a straight with connected cards? One-gappers? Two-gappers? How about flopping an OESD? How about a flush or a flush draw with suited cards?
It would be great to generate a little chart for seeing flops with trash cards, based on flopping at least two pair, an OESD or a flush draw. It would go something like this...
Any two, 2 pr or better .... X to 1
Connectors, offsuit, 2 pr or better or OESD, X to 1
Connectors, suited, 2 pr or better or OESD or FD, X to 1
1-gappers, offsuit, 2 pr or better or OESD, X to 1
1-gappers, suited, 2 pr or better or OESD or FD, X to 1
OK, starting to answer my own question. I found this site, that told me the chances of flopping 2 pr are 4 percent and the chances of flopping trips are 1.35 percent.
Am I correct then the chances of flopping one or the other are 5.35 percent? Or 19 to 1?
The odds of flopping a flush with suited cards is 0.84 percent and a flush draw is 10.9 percent.
So if you have , are your chances of flopping two pair, trips or a flush draw about 16 percent, or 5 to 1?

A maximally suited connector (such as TJs) will give you a hand that you want to contimue with (2 pair or better, or a flush draw or an open ended SD or a double gutter) about 25% of the time.
Those calculations are a pain in the butt I've run them, and seen them run by others. I'll see if I can find the breakdown someplace.
Those numbers are accurate. Here's the breakdown:
2 pair or trips: 3.47%
If you include hands where there's a pair on the board and you pair the other card, or where you flop 3 of a kind on the board the number goes up to 5.71%
8 out straight draw or 9 out flush draw: 19.1%
straight: 1.29%
flush: .82%
straight flush .02%
That gives a total of: 3.47 + 19.1 + 1.29 + .82 + .02 = 24.7% (I guess my memory isn't failing yet).
