I've been recording my trials and tribulations with poker and sports betting on a new blog. If you are a fellow blogger, feel free to hit me up and I'll add a link to you. You can find it at:

www.nsidestrate.com/blog

Feedback is certainly welcome. My current obsession is with the insanely complicated Daniel Negreanu's protégé competition.

Nice blog Nside, i have been thinking about getting into sports betting as well but haven't had the time to get around to it. If you want a good team to bet on right now try the Carolina Hurricanes - they are running hot in the NHL...mind you the odds probably reflect that.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm actually not really about picking winners. I mostly look for disconnects between the lines at different sportsbooks where I can obtain can't miss situations (and hogging bonuses like mad).

That'll never work.

I just wanted to post that I enjoy your blog and its frequent updates. I only sportsbet on the nfl and use bet365. It has really generous parlay bonuses and overlays and you might want to check it out for nfl or baseball betting.

Thanks for the plug. I'm certainly wordy, if nothing else. Wink

I've had bet365 on my short list for a while. If I can ever clear the wager requirements and get my money out of the sites I'm currently stuck on, I'll check it out.

Hey nside,

Sports betting. Interesting field for sure. As you know I'm almost exclusively into Sports Contests, but will throw in some comments about sports wagers. It is absolutely essential, or at least advisable, to get the best line you can on any bet. Also you need to know whether, for example, it is better to take Den -3 this week or Denver ML -165. (ML for those who don't know stands for money line and in this instance would mean that Denver just has to win the game. You would have to wager $165 to win $100 on the money line v. the standard $110 to win $100 at Den -3. Some places you might even be able to do better than $110 at -3 but that's another discussion.

Anyway I know people who have many, many offshore accounts, exceeding 20, and constantly search for the best lines. Essential to maximize your profit and to dampen fluctuations. If I can mention a site (not sure so delete away if need be) you might check out

http://fezziksplace.com/lines.cfm Pull up the site and then enter the Forum. A few gems amongst the weeds as always.

Steve Fezzik does not charge for picks and is a brilliant bettor (and knows how to use the info supplied by other more impressive handicappers). That being said he had a poor year wagering in the NFL.

My two cents....

GL all in this crazy world too.

I've been impressed with Fezzik's ability to accurately forecast line moves. The closest thing to high risk betting I've done so far is to pick one side of a line that he says will move and then scalp the other side at gametime. I've got some good deals that way.

Yes, that's his specialty, and I feel that's one of my strengths too. Although I only use it indirectly in my contests. Fezzik is the handicapper I feel most "in tune" with. We think alike. At least I think so. He doesn't know me from Adam. There are archived Larry Grossman broadcasts available through Card Player. Fessik is usually on the Monday broadcasts. Some very interesting discussions in the past. Wish he were doing the show alone. Wink Larry Grossman's show is ending in two weeks. May be the last of Fez through that outlet I fear.

After watching him for a while to convince myself that he was really reliable in predicting these sort of line moves, I tried jumping on one with modest success two weeks ago. Last Sunday he openly scoffed at the opening line on the Carolina/Seattle game, when it opened at +6 +100 ML for Carolina. He said that it would nosedive and keep falling all week. I bought as much ML as I felt I could stand and got in +180 (it fell like a rock in the first hour). By Monday, it was already scalpable. He says it will keep falling and thinks I'll be able to get down -155 on Seattle by gametime. That will be a 3.5% scalp and by far the best I've ever seen. So I've got nothing bad to say about the man.

If anyone is interested in my progress in the Borgata warm up event tomorrow, I will be posting updates remotely on my blog. Once the day is over I'll write something up and post it on ITH.

Nside, is the sports betting you are doing arbitrage betting? If so then you might be interested in reading this post I came across on the bankroll builder forum (delete the link if it's not allowed here).

http://www.thebankrollbuilder.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1621

The thread was started by a poster called Keltset and it's his third post in the thread that contains quite a lot of info.

There were a few sites I didn't know about there. I have just started chasing arbs again after a brief hiatus. Baseball seems to provide many good opportunities. Thanks for the link.

nside, did you take your blog down? I noticed that you hadn't been updating is very regularly but today it says that there is no blog there.

My host sold their business to another host and it looks like they hosed it up. I'll have to hassle them. Thanks for the tip. Maybe I'll even make an entry.
