I recently decided to learn O8... I've read through Bohemian's article series & have poked around through here...not surprisingly, I've been crushing the play money Limit O8 tables with this basic guidance...

Soooo, I'm ready to try some real money games...How soft/difficult are the 0.5/1 limit O8 games at Stars?

Main reason I ask is that it seems that most hands will reach the $0.40 rake level needed to accumulate FPPs (unlike 0.5/1 FLHE)...could make for QUICK bonus clearing...but obviously, I don't want to get my arse reamed in the process..

Thanks!

Best,
Jeff

Are you going to multi-table it? If not you'd clear FPPS faster with hold em. You'll still have way less than 1/2 your hands raked .40 even on O8.

FWIW I think multi-tabling O8 when you're just starting out is a BAD idea.

If you don't want a reaming, stick to one table until you've mastered it and it bores you, then add one more. Repeat until FPP rate is to your liking.

If you just want FPPs, try three tabling 100 NLO8. That will boost your rate by tenfold. It's also a superhighway to a coronary, but that's another issue entirely.

8BB pots (necessary for the rake) are not as common in the current tight grinder environment as you would hope for O8.

Don't multitable as you're learning. You need to be automatic with board reading and understanding when to bet and when to check-call. This is not a hard game, but it's not easy either.
