I need a lot of help here. I have built a BR from winning 3.15 in a freeroll. Built it up to 170.00 playing micro .01/.02c. But for the last 21 weeks, I am losing 98% of the hands I play.

We all know that micro is extreme loose play. I can't even raise with AA KK or QQ and definitely not AK as they are my most money losers. When I raise, any raise, there is almost always an all in raise from a maniac holding TT or TJ and have been beaten by 34s 4 times now. Don't know what to do here. I tried higher levels, tried limit, everything. So I am stuck at micro. I am not a working man, just learning the ropes in hope of cashing in. But now my fears are coming true. Bankroll syndrome.

I make most decisions based on my odds post flop. The more outs I have, the less likely I am to hit. Gutshots, I hit so often it's terrible. Sometimes I go all in to isolate a certain raiser preflop.

If I try to isolate a loose player with AA KK, there is always one poker god in the hand holding A5s and kicks my butt. Tried playing aggressive, tried extreme passive, letting them bet into me. Nothing is working.

These downswings I read about, please tell me what I am going through is normal.
I tried to post my PT stats, and some examples, but don't have enuff posts.
Apperentely I need 10 posts or more to submit images or urls.

Any advice here would be greatly appreciated. Wink

This particular hand was as stupid a call as one can make, but, this player bets all in every hand with lo to medium pair and even A high at times. He bullies his way into having his opponents fold to him, been waiting for an opportunity to knock him off his bridges, so to speak, it didn't go so well.

First, is it normal? Yes and no. Variance down is not "normal" for a good player. But at the same time, everyone will experience it if you play for awhile. And variance is a bee eye tea see ach. It is very tough to work with.

In my opinion, the only way to keep your sanity is to know as best you can if you're really making the right plays and if the money will eventually come. The 2 best ways for doing this are reading poker books and posting your hand examples on the forum.

I recommend reading Professional No Limit Vol 1, as it will teach you what you need to know about playing AK and those big pairs.

On to the hand examples.

Hand 1 is fine. If you count fold equity especially. Note that if one of your opponents has AJ or KJ, then you're not a favorite to win the hand. And if he has 2 pair or a set it's even worse. But you have fold equity and also the second caller gives you good enough pot odds that, along with the original pot size, give you value even if you knew were getting called in 2 spots. This is simply variance.

Hand 2 you played poorly. You need to get more money in the pot when you have a big hand. This is what you waited for. You complain that your opponents don't fold, then you fail to punish them for it when you finally strike gold. You lost a lot of potential value here. If you bet and they fold, so be it. Your best chance is to bet and get a big pot going here. You should also raise more preflop against these players.

Hand 3 your preflop raise was weak. Just call and see a flop and extract value when you hit, or raise massively, possibly even pushing all in. But you should raise to at least .50 or .60 here. I can't tell what's happening on the river because of the way the hand history reads, but if there was a bet, a raise, and then a reraise, you should fold here. If it was just a mini-raise, then calling was OK because of the small size of the bets involved.

Hand 4 you need to raise more with KK preflop against these players, at least to .16 if not .20. The hand was fine, again just variance but your play is obviously +EV.

Hand 5 was very well played and continuing to do this will make you money. Again, variance the b-i-t-c-h at play here.

Hand 6 is a mistake that cost you a lot of money. This isn't how you make money off the maniacs. Wait for a better opportunity as this cost you a lot of coin. You were just being a calling station and played right into his hands Smile Wait until you are the one with AQ here and he pushes into you with his flush draw. By the way, if he's as big a gambler and bully as you say, then push all-in preflop and make him knock it off. I'd prefer AQ+ or TT+ to do that though. Folding this preflop is also perfectly OK and might be the better option if you're trying to reduce your variance.
