|
|
***SOLD OUT!!!***
Background:
As many of you know, I’ve taken a few-month hiatus from MTTs due primarily to MTT burnout and relative time-commitment c/w cash games.
Well, thanks to Arnold Snyder and his release of Poker Tournament Formula 2 (which, btw, is another great book, just like his PTF 1), I find myself struck with the MTT bug again!
I’d like to try playing some MTTs using some of his newer concepts, but don’t currently have the BR on Stars to play at the levels and in the MTT structures that I think the strategies will be most effective for (buyins of ~$10 and greater, and/or starting chipstacks of 3K).
Staking Proposal:
I’m looking to play about 50 MTTs on Stars with an average buyin per MTT of around $15. The MTTs that I’d be playing to get this average would be the evening Stars MTTs like:
The $11 and $22 180-man SNGs
The $11 30K Guaranteed at 7pm EST
The $27.50 40K Guaranteed and $16 MTTs at 8pm and 10pm
The $9.90 360-man MTT at ~9pm
The 915pm $11 NLHE ($5K Guaranteed, 3K starting chips)
I’d be asking for 66% total backing, which would be $500 total. I’ll sell shares in $5 increments, so there will be a total of 100 shares available.
At the end of the 50 MTTs, I’ll give stakes back plus split any profits 40% to mash_tun / 60% backers
If there are any questions or you want to get a complete summary of my prior MTT experience, I’d be happy to post it or PM it to you. You can check OPR for my Stars MTT record (though most of my higher-volume play happened prior to late Fall 2007, and I have an equal # of MTTs not captured by OPR that I played on Bodog).
My screenname on Stars is high_rustler (Vernon).
Thanks in advance for anyone interested enough to support my little quest!
Jeff

Hey Mash,
I'm interested in purchasing some shares, but I've got a question or two.
With the mix that you are playing how will you make sure you get to exactaly $750 in buy-ins? Or what happens if you don't hit that exact amount?
More out curiousity than anything...do you plan to be in IRC most nights you are playing?
Thanks, good luck! |

The main reason why I'm leaving it somewhat vague is to ensure that I can play the volume of MTTs (~50) proposed in a reasonable amount of time (I'd like to get this done in about a month, to be fair to the backers). I'll have to play most/all of the MTTs in the evening EST...and I'd love to just play the $10/180s or $20/180s (to make it easy to calculate buyin amounts), but they seem to fill super-slow, from what I've observed. One example of an evening session that I might do:
8pm EST $27.50 NLHE ($40K Guaranteed, 3K starting chips)
915pm EST $9.90 NLHE 360-player max
915pm EST $11 NLHE ($5K Guaranteed, 3K starting chips)
10pm EST $16.50 NLHE
Plus, a $11/180-man SNG
Total Cost for this roster would be $75.90, or $15.19 per MTT. There are other combos that get me right around $15/MTT, as well. So, I should be able to get awfully close to $750 total buyin costs. If I end up being a few bucks short, I'll foot any excess buyin amount to get at or above the $750 total.

Yes, I'd plan on being in IRC when I'm playing the MTTs. FYI, I'm not in IRC much lately since I'm playing NL cash mostly on Bodog...and I don't run a HUD there...so I find myself getting too distracted by IRC if I try and 3-table... |

You made money for me in the past, and you have a positive ROI, so I'll take some action.
I'll take 10 shares. Shipping the money as we speak. |

MTT Quest Final Summary:
First, I’d like to sincerely apologize for the substantial delay getting all of the final tabulations and payouts squared away. The way things turned out made it a pretty unhappy thing to square up, but I know that’s not a good excuse at all.
Bottom line is I ran quite horribly during the quest and was pretty damn embarrassed about it…Some of you know that I've been backed for MTT play a few times before, and every time I turned a nice profit...so I had pretty high expectations for a similar result for this go-around. I'm pretty much crushed that I turned out a loser on this go-around. I’ve gone over hand histories for all these MTTs just recently, and I honestly can’t see egregious errors in my play…so I just got bit by variance this time, I guess.
FWIW, over the past month or so, I was trying to get something rolling by playing some smaller buyin MTTs...and was going to put any profits into the backer pool, because I honestly felt so bad about losing so much money for you all. Unfortunately, this noble attempt also was a lost cause...I just continue in a nasty, nasty downswing, no matter what level I play at...
So, as much as it sucks, I’m making payouts now based on the end-results shown in the spreadsheet link. A couple of quick FYI notes:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pmqRsA82tXQPu5ddHCsupUg
I ate the extra $7.90 over the original $750 backing pool. The remaining money (less $0.08, to make payouts easier) is being split amongst all the backers… no $$$ going back to my 33% portion of the initial $750 pool.
If there are any questions or you don’t receive your transfer on Stars, just PM me.
Thanks again for taking a chance on me…I sincerely wish it turned out better…
Best,
Jeff |
