Well, after tilting away my $700 bankroll in a day due to a combination of bad beats, bad plays, and most influentially playing heads up $1/2 NL, I'm left with $6.

It always happens like that. I'll make a bunch of money, play above my BR, get one bad beat, and then tilt away the rest of my money.

So I've bought into 3 $.05/.10 NL tables for the minimum, $2 each.

No more tilting, no more LAG, I'm gonna make a grand.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Current BR: $6.52

After an estimated 8 hours of triple tabling, I've made a solid start.

I played the $.05/.10 until I had ~$60. I then played a heads up tournament for $5, and then $10, to get my BR to around $75. I want to ween myself off of these HU tourneys as they make me tilt.

I then proceeded to buy in on three 25nl tables for the full buy-in. Made another $25 last night. Today I've been running good though. Triple tabling 25nl, I have brought my BR to $340. Woohoo.

I'm still being a LAG though, which I had planned on stopping.

I'm tempted to move up to triple tabling 50nl, but I think I'm gonna hold off for a little bit. The play at 25nl is too much fun.

Wow - impressive.

If only you could do this on the same scale when starting with $600 - that would be a nice wage.

Luckily I got payed off when I flopped top set by some guy semi-bluffing with middle pair. Besides that though, I played some pathetic poker

What a cool post - $6 into $809 proves that there is hope for anyone and no bankroll is too small.

Well done UVA!

After reading AH's blog post, I don't really feel like this holds much significance. Regardless...

I decided to play online after a night at the bar this thanksgiving break. I bought in to three 200nl tables for $80 each. I lost 2 of the buy-ins to suckouts within 10 minutes.

I get QQ, raise preflop, get one caller. Flop: 3 8 10 I get raised into, I go all-in, he calls and shows K8, rivers comes K.

Also lost an AA vs AKs all-in preflop.

So I decided it would be a good idea to play $100nl HU tournaments. I lost two of them when I had the odds.

99 v AK (understandable)

J9 v KQ (all in on the flop on a 9 2 4)

The worst part about playing drunk is waking up, and checking your account. You have a vague memory of losing money, but can't quite remember how much you lost.

Then to make it worse, I had a bad run triple tabling 100nl the next day.

Today is the first time I've played in about 5 days. I'm moving back down to 50nl even though my BR sucks. If I drop to under 200, I'm gonna move down to 25nl.

weak.

Just tilted away the rest of my BR in two heads up $100 tournaments.

Ace of Hearts Jack of Hearts

Flop: Jack of Spades 7 of Spades 2 of Spades

both all in

Villian shows 10 of Spades 10 of Clubs

spade comes on turn flush

Queen of Spades Queen of Clubs

flop: 4 of Hearts 6 of Diamonds 10 of Clubs

turn: Jack of Hearts

Villian all-in 650, I call

Villian shows Jack of Diamonds King of Hearts

river: King of Spades

Next hand I flop top pair, Villian turns over AA

I'm kind of glad I lost all of my money though. This is probably the most important week of the semester, so gambling will just get in the way. It sucks though, I was up to $940 at one point, just $60 from quitting online gambling forever. Now I'm f'n broke again and looking for some way to pay off my credit card.

Someone should turn this thread into a book or article about bankroll management.

Better luck next time.

All is not lost yet. You're just where you were ~20 days ago. Just think of this as a poker lesson and move on.

I think one of my biggest problems is that I become results oriented to much... as to say if I start with say $400, build it to $3000, and get down to $2500, I feel devestated that I'm not >$3000 and play higher to get back up there. I think if I avoided this, I would be a lot richer than I am today.

It takes remarkable talent to turn $6 into $940 in ~20 days and I really think you can accomplish it if you try again.

I post a lot of -10k days and such, but what I don't really tell people is that I usually deposit only $400-$1000 each time starting off. There have been times where I haven't had access to any money and had to 'refer a friend' to get a bankroll... which eventually built me a very deep bankroll.

Grinding's tough. The way up is tough, the inevitable downswings are tough, but hey... that's why they call it grinding. I'm confident that if you restart with patience (no rushing/good br mangement), you'll overcome this goal and have had accomplished more than just financial gain. I'm currently trying to do this as well, so you're not alone Smile. Good luck Very Happy.
