We're going to do something a little different this time in an effort to keep participation levels high throughout.

We'll have a league prize pool funded by having all participants contribute $20, and that prize pool will be divided amongst the top players in the league at the end of the series of monthly tournaments in May.

Participants in the league will transfer $20 to IonlyplayAA on Stars. You may join at any time, but tournaments started before your contribution is made will not count towards your league score.

Tournaments will run on the 1st Sunday of every month at 3:30pm Eastern at Poker Stars. First tournament will be October 5th, and the last will be on May 3, 2009.

Tournaments will be $5+0.50, with the individual tournament prize pool distributed per normal Stars rules.

Anyone is welcome to play in any tournament, but scores will only be recorded for the final prizes for those who've joined in the league prize pool.

Scoring system will be 1 point per $ of prize pool won in the individual tournament, plus 1 point for each player outlasted in the tournament. Each participants lowest individual score will be dropped from the league totals.

    Final league prize pool will be split multiple ways depending on the number of participants. We'll be basing the breakdown on the typical Stars private tournament payout, so as an example with 20 participants the final prize pool will be split 50 - 30 - 20, with 40 participants it'll be 40 - 24 - 16 - 12 - 8, and with 60 it'll be 30 - 20 - 12 - 10 - 8 - 6.5 - 5.5 - 4.5 - 3.5

In each individual tournament, the league player (player registered for the league prize pool) who lasts longest will receive an entry to a Stars Million or Warm-up (winner's choice) courtesy of Poker Stars.

There may be a few other details that will be tweaked over the next couple of weeks, and I'll post any updates here. If anyone has any questions please post them here and I'll make sure everything is addressed before we get started.

You can start making transfers to sign up now, please PM with your Stars ID when you make the transfer so I can keep track of who's who.

Cool idea, I like it... for myself.

But it will price out some of the lower limit guys... I think that is important too address overall. Perhaps I can still organize the odd Private tourny without the fee to cater to some of the crowd where $20 up front is going to be prohibitive.

I don't think that's that much since we're going all the way to May...at any rate, I'm excited to see this.

I would prefer week nights to playing during NFL days.

Weeknights are no good for euros. The only way to satisfy the most people is to have it on weekends or do both weekdays and weeknights. Since attendance has been a problem picking the weekends gives the best coverage without having too many MTTs to attend.

Not much better or worse than Sunday nights, in that the following day is a working day in either case. I suppose it's a little easier to be sure of being around at 20:30 GMT or 21:30 CET on a Sunday than on a weeknight, I suppose.

One difference with Sundays is that quite a few Euro players might be playing the big Sunday tournaments and staying up anyway.

(This is from a Euro who probably won't be able to play no matter what - not least because I'll be in Australia at the time of the first tournament Very Happy)

This sounds like a great idea to me. As I euro I think that the proposed start time is probably the best available compromise

Transfers should be to IonlyplayAA on Stars (let me know via PM if you need to make other arrangements and I'll see what I can do).

Sounds great. I will try to make as many as I can. Is the $20's a one time entry fee for the league and then each individual tourney is just $5.50?

Thanks,
Cro

I don't think it does price out people from lower limits, at least not completely. If I understand correctly, the $20 fee is optional, and any ITHer can play any number of the $5 + .5 events. They would be eligible for the prize pool on each individual tournament (i.e. made up of the $5 entry fees), but obviously not for the overall league prizes, which comes from the $20.

Is that right, Ciaran? (if not, you might want to delete this post before I start confusing people...)
