Here I am again, heading into the confessional booth (which is odd for a Jewish guy).
I just played a session at the Indian casino and managed to win $19 despite playing three big pots horribly. I got a miracle suckout on one of them, fortunately, which is why I didn't lose all my money.
The bottom line in all three was I, again, overthought it, and used some contrived logic to convince myself that something other than the obvious was the case. In all cases, the villains had exactly what would be your first guess that they had.
Worse, in two of the hands, I helped dig myself into a hole with the old out-of-position-check-to-induce-a-bluff. I really need to stop doing that, because, especially live, I don't think people are going to bluff that much. I ought to just make a blocking bet so I can be certain what a raise means.
I know perfectly well that, at this particular game in this particular casino, ABC poker works. You can almost play with your hand "exposed" (ie, representing exactly what you have), and you'll still win because there are enough bad players out there.
Anyway, I just wanted to post all of this because I'm hoping that the mere act of writing it will help burn this idea into my skull.

I often have the same problem. I finally drilled into my head to run through a little script in my head to make sure I'm doing what I really want/need to do. It helped me and I often catch myself starting to be too cute or make moves I really shouldn't be doing.
