The last time I played online, the US poker ban was something of a fantasy. I enjoyed online play, but for me, I prefer social interaction. Where I used to live, I found plenty of live games (i.e. college kids and two casinos within a half hour of where I lived) and as a hobby player, gave the internet thing up.
Where I live now, live games are totally dry. I don't know what was wrong with my old computer, but it wouldn't load online sites. It was about to die and I decided to get a new one, which arrived tonight. No live games and a computer that wasn't too messed up to read scripts, I gave Cake a try tonight.
It was all low limit SNG's. The 10 player games I played, luck wasn't on my side-busted twice with KK. The first, it was way too early for him to be playing for everything with A3 and the second, the I was unlucky enough to push against someone with rockets preflip-his lucky day I guess.
I hammered on a rock to win a HU game and found myself essentially even for the night heading into a $1 30 player game. The play was better than I thought for a buck game and I ended up finishing just outside the money.
The point is, I entertained myself for 3 hours, shook off a lot of rust, and it cost me something like 2 bucks.
For a guy who ended up down for the night, I'm raving like a madman.
