As some of you will know or recall, I had a major sulk about a year ago (maybe longer, can't be arsed looking it up) with ITH for a few reasons, although the postings of the equine one broke the camels back.
Anyway, I posted (or posted more frequently) on various football (sewcher to you Yanks), golf and poker forums as a substitute.
Now the football (sewcher) and golf posting has gone fine, and so more or less has the poker, however where I've come unstuck has been on the forum of the dark side (aka =4) when we come to the sporting topics, in particular the aforementioned sewcher.
It does appear that the gentle ribbing that is the norm in the UK, is not met in the manner intended by our US cousins in the way that it is here, not sure if ITH gets the UK style any more than =4, or if the posters here are simply more educated in the ways of the world, but for whatever reason, normal UK sporting ribbing is understood here, yet simply causes aggro reminiscent of a Scouser in the stretford end over on the dark side.
There is no Nside, there is no Darv, and surprisingly there is no =4 equivalent of <cough> Bernardogs - yes I know, hard to believe, but there isn't.
So after all that, what I'm saying is, I would like to come back to a place where 'Why America Sucks' type topics are taken in the spirit in which they were posted.
Is that too much to ask, or should I continue to fight the force? |
