Just a quick question, how many hands are required to get a reasonable idea of your winrate in HU and what would be a decent win rate? I'm guessing somewhere around 4BB/100 at 5/10.

Once you get to a sufficient sample size, the first hands you played in that sample size are probably not representative for your true win rate anymore. So it may be very difficult to really pin down your average win rate. And a winning rate over 4BB/100 would be very good. 2BB/100 would be decent.

And a sufficient sample size would be?

I really don't have a clue to be honest. I'm pretty sure you can calculate this somehow but I don't really find this stuff interesting. If I have to guess, 100K-200K hands or so.

Just to give you an indication that a very large number of hands is required. My results for this month (thusfar):

Limit: $5/$10 HU
Hands played: 6087
Net Result: -$4023
BB/100: -6.61

Limit: $8$16 HU
Hands played: 3010
Net Result: +$4634
BB/100: +9.62

The main difference is that I win 54% of my showdowns at $8/$16 but only 49% at $5/$10. I'm very grateful it isn't the other way around.

Ouch that's a nasty downswing at $5/$10. I've actually put HU play on hold for the moment despite running well at $3/$6 and a little $5/$10 as I realised I had no idea If I was playing correctly given that there's so little resource out there for HU and hand examples are entirely opponent specific. If I hit a downswing like the one your having at $5/$10 at this stage of my HU development I'd probably put it down to incorrect play on my part and become disheartened with it. You of course have the advantage of knowing your a solid HU player over a decent sample.
