How are you doing with the read Jeff? I'm kinda interested in hearing about this book too, I have the new 2+2 book on order so will read that first but if this is good I'll pick it up to read after that.
I have a hard time with the book for several reasons. They say there is some good stuff in the second half of the book, which I've just started, but even if this is so I it doesn't have my confidence.
It's distracting, at best, in the beginning of the book when he gives wrong probabilities for things like flush draws. Another example would be saying that your chance of hitting a flush card on the turn is lower than on the flop (it's higher on the turn if you miss on the flop.) This is not a big deal, but it leaves you wondering - when he says something that I don't already know, then how do I know if he's right?
Furthermore he says things that are at best impractical, and at worst just unacceptable to me. For example, the style requires that you get certain cards to maintain your image, and if you are card dead, you should just go home. Or if the table turns loose/passive, you should just go home, because even if you wait to win a pot, it might be the only pot you win all night. This is just too weird for me.
I think he is selling a particular low variance style of tight aggressive play which is only possible when you get the right cards and have the right table conditions.
They say he explains how to play different styles and the book gets better. But this advice is difficult to overcome, for me.

The December 2007 issue of Poker Pro (with Scott Clements on the cover) has a two page strategy column by Sam O'Conner. Not having the book, I don't know if this is an excerpt from the book or a new article. Either way, it might give you an idea as to the writing style of the author.
PP is not one of my regular reads so I don't know if this is a regular column or a one time thing.
