Hello. I am currently very depressed about poker right now. I have been playing or a few years, and consider myself fairly knowledgeable about the game, but I can't seem to win lately.

I have had some past success in tournament play: I netted $2,125 in 2007, plus a $2080 WPT Vegas super satty trip.

ROI for tourney overall is 164.24% over 415 tournaments (ITM 21.45%). Yeah, I know, small sample.

My current bankroll (online) is just over $1,300 spread over four sites, and slowly dwindling.

Yeah, yeah, make good decisions and you'll profit long term. But I guess I'm not very good at making decisions, since I'm -2.3ptbb/100 over 64.3+K hands at $10NL. Full ring stats: 18.24/8.27/2.33.

Maybe poker isn't for me...

Welcome to ITH AG!!

We all have been through downswings. Looks like you use pokertracker. Maybe you should review your hand history and see where you are losing.

You can post hands you are concerned about the tourney forum and will get some great advice as to how to improve you game.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

One thing I noticed during my own downswing a couple of months back is that I got so depressed at the inevitable suckouts all the time that I was starting to miss value bets on the river (that in turn meant my downswing lasted longer) fearing the check raise.

I'm only a NL player in tournaments really (a few thousand hands at NL cash tables only) but I reckon the value bets are possibly even more important in NL play than my regular limit games.

Taking some time to read another poker book has helped me take another look at my game every time as well, gets you to take a look at any ruts you may be stuck in.

Hey thanks guys.

Yeah, I try not to let it effect my game. And yeah, I do do a postmortem after every session of my biggest losing hands. Some I do recognize that I played badly, but everyone is going to make mistakes. I just have to figure out how to get on the plus side, where the wins out dollar the times I fk up.

Btw, cashed for $875 last Saturday with two tourney wins, so at least I have some money to lose at ring still...

You should stick to turneys and stop playing ring games.
