This is only the 3rd hand of the Heads-up tourney. He limped in the first hand and raised big (4 or 5 big bets) preflop on the 2nd hand and I folded. Made the quick assumption he was a very aggressive player.

My question is: Should I have made this call? I thought he was bluffing, but maybe I was just being an (his words here) "idiot"?

Hero (t1500)
BB (t1500)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 7 of Clubs, 8 of Spades.
Hero raises to t40, BB raises to t80, Hero calls t40.

Flop: (t160) 2 of Spades, 8 of Clubs, 5 of Hearts (2 players)
BB bets t140, Hero raises to t300, BB calls t160.

Turn: (t760) 6 of Hearts (2 players)
BB bets t440, Hero calls t440.

River: (t1640) Queen of Diamonds (2 players)
BB bets t680 (All-In), Hero calls t680 (All-In).

Final Pot: t2320

I agree with Irish. You have top pair + open ended. Even if he has an overpair you have a ton of outs at that point.

For better analysis you may want to post in the NL forum, or maybe the MTT/SNG forums.
