My nephew has been crushing the casinos out here for a few years now.He seldom has a losing night and is very +EV.He is a very strong reader and is fearless. We always discuss the hands on the way into work and he really thinks the game on a high level.I want to stake him in these very soft games.
His problem is he spends whatever he wins and just goes back in when he feels like playing and wins a little to pay the rent and whatnot but doesnt keep a roll.
I told him I would stake him and he would have to follow my BR rules. He was cool with that.He still wants to keep $ when he wins instead of build the BR 100% with the wins.
My deal was that I would stake him the full amount from the start and we would work a 50/50 split.
So for example we start with a $1500 BR and he plays the first time and wins $100.$50 for him and $50 for me.He can choose to keep his $50 and spend it or he can bank it as part of the roll. This method works really good as long as he wins each time lol.
My question is what happens when he has a losing session and has cashed out some/most/all his profit till that point?
Lets say the BR is at $10000 and it has grown $8500 (my portion of the profit) to that point.I have never done a withdrawl of my $8500 but he has done all of his to this point.Lets say he now loses $1000 and the roll is at $9000.His next session is a win of $1000.What would be fair at this point?
Does he keep 50% of the win and the roll goes to $9500 or does he have to make up the loss?
I have never really staked anyone before so this is really new to me.I just want to create something that works well for both of us.

First reaction:
have a rule that when the bankroll is negative (below starting amount), 75% of a session's profits (and 100% of the buy ins) go back into the roll. He keeps 25% as the player.
Otherwise, the roll keeps 50%, and he keeps 50%. If he elects to put some of his share in the roll, his shares of the roll are equal to yours.
Example: starting roll 15000 for 2/5 NL (30 buy ins unless your casino allows deep buy ins).
First session: loss 1000.
Second session: profit 3000. He gets 25% of the profit until the roll is replenished. In this case, the roll needs to make up $1000. The first $1333 in profit is split 75/25, he keeps 333.33 and 1000 goes back into the roll. The remaining 1666.67 in profit for the session is split 50/50.
Giving him 25% of the profit to do what he sees fit gives him incentive to play (and win) when the roll is down.
Also, I would ideally force him to put a small percentage of his profit shares into the roll, incentivizing his success.

I ran that aspect by him about the 25/75 split when the roll was down and it he liked the idea.
Not sure how to workout an uneven BR split but have a few ideas.....kinda like the way the sharkdaq is setup where a portion of the main roll can be used and he can put in what he wants to and then workout the % from there. This way he will still have his $ involved and will recieve a better split and more incentive to play.
I also think as if/when he moves up in stakes and the games increase in difficultly the split may have to increase in the rolls favor to insure it continuing to grow.
