Hey all...

I have been given a $75 bonus at FTP, and like all bonuses in my life I'm having a HELL of a time freeing it all. I play $2-$5 SNG's and MTT's, and it seems like they only free up about $0.10 per f*** tourney and it takes FOREVER to get any bonuses.

My question: What's the fastest way to cash in bonuses? If I just sit at a Ring game, do I get my bonus freed or do I actually have to play a HAND to free a bonus? For whatever reason my cash game skills aren't that great, and I just don't like playing them to begin with, but if I could just sit at a table and wait for AA/KK and free up my bonus I'd be willing to do that. If I have to play hands to free the money, then it wouldn't work for me.

Let me know.

Joe

PS - I wish they would just ship the damn cash right away. I could use $75 in free MTT buy ins!

You should play whatever you are best at and not worry as much about the bonus. It will come. It may be slow but its better than playing a game you are not comfortable with..

However, you do get pts for being dealt cards at ring games. You'll have to pay the blinds but I guess you could just wait for AA/KK and hope it holds but its not very sound strategy IMO

Waiting for AA or AK is not going to be viable strategy in limit games for sure and probably not in NL either. The bonus will clear slower than the blinds cost you.

One thing you have to realize is that a bonus pays you back a portion of your rake. If you get 0.10 after playing a $2 + 0.2 SNG they are giving you back half your rake in bonus. How much faster can it possibly clear off? Most bonuses clear really quickly once you play 3/6 limit hold’em and higher because your paying a ton more rake and you might be up or down 10x the bonus amount by the time you clear it.
