hey there! dunno how many of you actually remember me.

after the whole legal mumbo jumbo was announced i stopped playing online. recently im finding myself with some extra time that i could be playing.

i was wondering what the final verdict was on online play for US players? i only have money in pokerstars now and i would be starting off slow again.

will i get in trouble for playing there? are there a lot of hassles with getting my money out eventually (it seems like this is a problem for some).

thanks for the reponses in advance

Poker Stars takes US Players. Others include Absolute, UB, Bo Dog, Full Tilt. Check the bonus area on the main page for a complete listing.

Playing is not illegal.

Getting money in, out or transferred between sites can be a hassle. You might want to check posts about "epassporte".

Hope this helps.

getting money in and out isn't that bad, depending on the site. But it will cost you some in fees nowadays (usually). Transferring between sites is much more problematic than it used to be.

For Stars your best bet is, probably (as has been mentioned) epassporte. I find their limits too low and their fees too high, but for now they're one of the few games in town, and are probably the closest to a common denominator.

For fulltilt I have mywebatm set as my default, although they also accept (and I have) epassporte. I just find the transfer times better, and the fees better as well, although it depends on the sums involved. For small enough amounts epassporte would be the better option fee-wise (for withdrawals). (By small I mean either 300 or 600 depending on how the account is set up), and when withdrawing I'm looking at fees to deposit into your bank account).

You can have the site send you a check when you withdraw. Some sites at least do that at no cost. Bodog will send you a Western Union transfer and pick up the cost. But you have delays there as well in terms of processing and transit times, and some people have had some trouble getting checks cashed, depending on the bank the check was drawn against.

Do a little investigation. The Stars info is here:
http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/real-money/

(check the cashout policy in the left hand column for withdraw info).
