To all Cake Poker Customers:
We have received notice from ePassporte today that they are unable to continue to provide CakePoker with merchant e-wallet services. We have since confirmed that this situation is not unique to CakePoker and is, in fact, industry wide.
While we are disappointed with this decision, we want to reassure all players that there will be no impact to either your account balances or your account status at Cake. We are pleased to have launched earlier this week with a new payment processor and have already secured alternative processors/eWallets that we will be launching in the weeks to come. We are also in discussions with other providers that will be making their services available in the CakePoker cashier soon. Players are welcome to inquire with Customer Support for more details.
As always, we value your business and will continue to make every effort possible to make your poker experience a great one.
Regards,
The CakePoker Team |
This would be MOST unfortunate. |

I just tried to dump my remaining ePassporte funds into Poker Stars and received a pop-up from PS stating that ePass was not available as a deposit option. (I turned right around and dumped it back into my bank account.)
Now I get to figure out how to withdraw money from AP, UB, PS, Cake and FTP.
Time to stick some more pins in my Bill Frist doll. |

It's toast, Bull.
Cake has taken the Epass option down, Stars still showing it, but you can't use it---says Epassporte is temporarily unavailable. Guess it's time to try out EChecks. Cake's UseMyWallet seems to be the same thing.
Looking on the bright side, won't have to shell out $40 in December for the annual account and physical card fees.
Yeah, I'm trying to find a silver lining here......
Edit: I just dumped what I had in there back in my checking account also. Let's hope it shows up in 5 business days---this coming Friday. |

Went to the UseMyWallet (aka Quicktender) site to see what sort of fees they ding you for:
What are your fees? Fee Schedule for QuickTender Account Holders:
# Service Fees *
1. Registration Fee Free
2. Credit Card Deposits 5%
3. Withdrawals to Bank Account or Check via regular mail $30 flat fee***
4. International bank wire deposits Free **
5. Payment to an online merchant Free
* All fees are subtracted in US Dollars; Fee Schedule for any QuickTender account denominated in another currency is calculated in accordance with the current date exchange rate.
** Subject to any fees and charges as imposed by any third-party being an intermediary between QuickTender Account Holder and QuickTender Payment System
*** Subject to correspondent bank fees and charges for international transfers
Well, this just sucks. |

| What happened? I thought the banking industry testified that the UIGEA was unenforceable. |

I have a UseMyWallet account for sports betting. It has gone from mediocre to pitiful in the last two months. Not a good option at all for moving money around to poker sites.

| I had $100 sitting on ePassporte, so I cashed it out to the bank. I'm not certain they are going belly-up, but I figured better safe than sorry. |

Same here. Think it is likely to be more of a "we aren't doing business with a so called gambing sights anymore" |

Makes since why my cashout to Epassporte from PS was reported as unsuccessful today.
I was unaware of this thread and requested the cashout again this morning. Guessing I'll be getting the same unsuccessful message.
I'm getting tired of finding new ways to move money around.
Are people having any difficulties cashing checks from poker sites, from PS in particular? |

Well I just pulled the $25 I had there.
For PS if you deposit via echeck can you cash out directly to your bank account (if you're in the US)? Or do you need to get a physical check?
I have no problems with FullTilt at the moment since I can now move money back and forth directly from my bank account (although withdrawing isn't as fast as Neteller used to be it's still relatively quick (once it's been approved), at least so far).
The worst part is that moving money between sites has become much more painful. |

Reading one of the 2+2 threads, one well-reasoned (by 2+2 standards) was suggesting that Epassporte is a popular method of funding pay-for-porn sites, and that this is significantly more of their business than poker. Therefore, the likelihood of them going under is relatively small.
After all, pr0n is fine, but God forbid someone enjoy themselves playing poker. That might be a real drain on society. Ah, the nanny state.
I thinks funds in Epassporte accounts are safe. That doesn't mean I'd leave any money there, either, not being a porn freak myself (and not understanding why anybody would pay for it when anybody with email can get it for free just by checking their spam filter?!?!) |

Given how easy the big sites have now made it go directly to/from a checking account, could this be partially a response to ePassporte getting squeezed by the sites on fees? I mean, if I were Stars and eCheck was working, I might be looking to pressure ePassporte to take a smaller cut.
Of course, if I was Stars I might also realize that at this point having as many live options as possible just couldn't be a bad thing.
On the third hand, if I was Stars, I'd also be considering creating my own eWallet and getting a cut of everybody's deposits, Stars or not. |

True, even though it was already give-me-morphine painful as it was.
Mr. Peabody, please take me back to 2004! |

| Man this was real disappointing. I had $600 in there to get ready to deposit on FTP for the first time with rakeback, but Stars had the reload so I put it there first. Then this happened. So just for shiitakes and giggles, I tried my debit card on FTP and holy hell it worked! I got a call from the bank this morning to verify it wasn't fraudulent, but other than that it worked. It did not work on Stars. |
