I've just started playing sit 'n gos and I came across a very profitable and amusing situation.

It is a £5, 10 man sit 'n go. The table is completely passive apart from two maniacs. The maniacs started carving up the table while I sat and folded about twenty hands until I picked up 1010 under the gun and manage to treble up through the two maniacs (one had KJ, the other some unknown trash hand). By 100/200 blinds the situation is that I have 5000 chips, the remaining maniac has 5000 chips and the remaining 5000 is divided equally among the other remaining three players

The maniac then went offline and all his hands were folded automatically. This resulted in an artificial bubble situation with five players since the maniac is effectively out of the game but still posting blinds. The table went into foldem mode and I raised all in on almost every hand and reraised their steal attempts, so I picked up the majority of the 'free' blind money on offer.

Once the fifth player was eliminated the remaining two active player refused to call any bets since there was only three players actually playing but noone was yet in the money. I went all in on every single hand and I also informed the table that I was going to call any all-in bet they made. The two players let themselves get blinded out and at one stage I had 12,000 chips while the remaining 3000 were distributed among the three players with blinds at 200/400 - I had only showed down one hand by that point! I got a hell of a lot of abuse from the players for my strategy, which added to the fun immensely. I think I only showed down three or four hands the whole tournament.

I love poker!
