The hand histories suggest that he busted in 10th place with AKs against 77. |

Agreed
I also think they know who you are Matthew and know you are capable of showing up here with a lot of hands. That you have gotten in a bad way with A3 shortly before, then followed up losing a race with 99 will have the vultures circling.
From villains perspective, recent history and the size of your 3 bet suggests you may not be entirely committed to the hand and leaves a door open for mid pp's to make a play. If you weren't wanting to get into a coin flip sitation maybe your 3 bet could have been a bit higher so that they know you are committed.
BTW I really dislike the A3 hand.
Don't sweat it though, 10th in that tourney is a good job. Next time do a great job and finish. |

I finished 9th.
A-K hand, it's possible someone would think they would have fold equity when I raised with AK. A good player would see that have about 2.5 pot odds though. I thought I looked committed, but I do see where a slightly bigger reraise might have been better to ensure that. I do think the 77 push was because of my image.
The A-3 hand. I didn't like it either. But, what do you think are the better options? My opponent has M of six when folded to me. I think the stacks are quite difficult here. I know what I would do differently now , but I think some discussion would be interesting.
I will say my thought processes at the time in that quick 20 seconds you get before making a decision. It is folded to me and SB has M of 6. If I push, I am only called by better hands which isn't ideal given that opponent's stack is as big as it is. If M of 4 or so, I think easy push.
If I make a standard raise to 30K and my opponent pushes. There is now 180K in the pot and I have 90 to call - hard to fold A-3 to a push there with 2 to 1 pot odds in a SB vs BB situation. I could, but seems a little weak to me.
Therefore, I limped actually hoping to induce some action from K-T+, Q-T+. At least this way, I induce some weaker hands to play with me whereas in the two previous scenarios I am probably only against a better hand.
What would you guys do here?

By the way, I don't think many of the players knew who I was. In fact, I think I had a really fishy image to many of the players as I had sucked out on a couple of hands with 20 to 30 players left.

I don't play mtt's much anymore, so I'm probably way off base.
I'd probably min raise here and be priced into any pot he shoves and happily pick up the blinds the rest of the time. I think we're going to win enough when he does shove to make the play profitable.
I just wouldn't be looking to get him to shove in on me when all I have is a naked ace. I think that's being trickier than need be, if not a bit overly optimistic. |

yea, I don't like my play either, but I really am not crazy about any of my options. His stack is a little too big for me to really like pushing, I am pretty much priced in with a raise, and limping has all kinds of issues with it - either he pushes all-in and I have tough decision or he checks and I am out of position. I think I picked the 4th best option .
A top online player told me he would have pushed.
