The scene is the "Million Dollar Cash Game" which is the UK version of High Stakes Poker. I don't know what the action was before the river, but the board on the river was:

4 of Clubs 6 of Clubs Jack of Hearts Jack of Clubs 7 of Clubs

Mike Matusow has pocket Kings, including the King of Clubs for the second best flush on a paired board. He bet 10k into a 40k pot after Ivey checked the river. Ivey check-raised to 47k, so Matusow has to call 37k into a 100k pot. He eventually folded.

Ivey held Ace of Spades 4 of Spades

I have to find that just so that I can watch the mega-tilt that followed.

It just happened yesterday, so it will be a while before it airs.

Why did he bet 10k?

It seems so weak. Yvey is the type of player who would pound on this. Mike should know it.

If he did not have the intention of calling an all-in, why bet? Yvey will not call with a worse hand on this board. So Yvey will most likely raise any hand that beats mike or he will bluff. So why bet? Maybe I am missing something?

This an absurdly bad bet if he's not planning to call a raise, because he can only be betting for value else he's turning the 2nd nut flush into a bluff. Would really like to know how the action went prior to the river.

Technically, I guess it's the 4th nut flush, not that that should make that much difference in how the hand should play.

Matusow got bluffed in High Stakes Poker in a similar fashion, you should look it up. He got reraised preflop by Hellmuth when Matusow held KK. Instead of reraising he just smooth called. Hellmuth fired on a 4 4 J board like 14k into a 12k pot, and Mike called. Similar 2/3 pot bet that was called by mike on the Turn, and Phil nutted up and bet pot on the river, like 60K, and after thinking and thinking Mike folded. The board was like 4 4 J 7 9. They were playing 7 2 and sure enough Hellmuth held the hammer.

Maybe Mike has a reputation of laying down non-nut hands on the river to strong bets. I saw it happen in similar fashion in the WSOP 2 years ago or so where he folded the nut straight on a paired board to a strong river bluff. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE bet on the river if he had no intention of calling the re-pop with 3-1 odds. It wasn't even that large of a raise all things considered.

The only write-up I've seen is from Michael Craig's blog. He doesn't have any of the rest of the action. He also says that Durrr lost $200k on Day 1, but managed to get close to even on Day 2.

Obviously we would have to know the rest of the action, but I agree on the surface this looks like horrible play from Matusow.

He can't always be terrible. He's probably only terrible sometimes.
