To a certain degree u can.. BUT, u need to play much tighter in NL ... thats my opinion.

Some advise. (again, my opinion)

If ur new, stay well away from NL for quite some time. Its dangerous Wink

An example of what can happen.
I saw a guy on UB just the other night Lose 20k in around 1.5 hours... This wasnt because he was a bad player, he hit a couple of bad beats and looked like he may have miss played a few hands slightly (with overbets), and that was 20k gone.

He was playing $10 / $20 (NL) at the time buying in for $2,500 .. I saw him a couple of nights later and he had been reduced to .50 / $1 buying in for $50 .. so it looks on the surface of it that the other night may well have wiped him out.

As I said, it can be a dangerous game

Hope that helps u a bit

Gfunk, I've been asked this before. They were designed for Limit, and I haven't really analyzed them for NL. I would think that they are a good starting guide but I wouldn't rely on them.

For NL, I would play unsuited hands a little tighter than the book says. For example, you won't win very many big hands with KJ, QJ, or even KQ. They can be played, but with caution.

I might also play a few more pairs if the game is not too aggressive and might even add more suited connectors. These types of hands have better implied pot odds in NL so can be played in more situations. Again, you need experience to play them well in the right situations.

Position is even more important in NL so keep that in mind.

Matthew
