|
|
| Has anyone cashed out by the check method in the United States. I was wondering where can I cash a check from a poker site that I have cashed out. My bank won't cash them (Regions Bank) they wont even let me buy in with my visa check card. Is there any other major branch, or has anyone tried cashing these checks at a walmart, or publix or kroger? |

I think your bank has to take the check. Are you telling me that when you deposit it, they refuse to accept it? What reason do they give?
I doubt seriously you will get it cashed anywhere else, except at the bank that issued it. |

| If you are literally trying to cash it without letting them put a hold on it until it clears, I don't think anyone will do that. |

here is the situation:
I deposited 100$ into ultimate bet with a gift2go visa card. I did this because my bank (regions bank) will not let me deposit using my check card from their bank.
I cashed out $855 and got a check mailed to me. Regions told me that they will not cash the check because it is from a "gambling institution."
My question is, where do I cash this check from Ultimate Bet? |

I'd try just depositing in an ATM. See if they are worked up enough about it to mail it back to you.
I know many, many people have successfully deposited such checks. I have my doubts about their legal authority to decline to accept a legitimate check for deposit, but the UIGEA probably gives them cover. |

How do they know it is from a gambling institution? Every check I've received is drawn on a check that doesn't mention the trade name of the poker site.
If for some reason the account number on the check is on some kind of watch list put it in the ABM. I've worked in processing centers and the people that settle ABM deposits settle thousands of deposits a day. They rarely have the time to be critical about any deposit in my experience.
They'll send it back to you if they won't deposit it so it's worth a try.
Also, I consider cashing a cheque as giving cash for the cheque. I do not know any financial institution that will cash a cheque drawn on an international (or even from another state/province). They will always want to put a hold on it unless you have good credit and will cash it vbased on your relationship with the bank alone. Depositing and cashing are two different things. |

I just got a check from UB a few weeks ago, and it just said it was from "Chexx, Inc.", not from UB or from another country. My bank doesn't like foreign checks either, but the teller took this without batting an eye. Does your check appear different?

taz115: I am not sure how they knew it was from one, the teller just said, "oh it is one of these, we don't do business with gambling institutions." I need to clarify when I said "cashing the check" I meant to just deposit it into my checking account, sorry for the mix up.
Did you mean put it in the ATM night deposit? I might try that if I can't resolve this issue.
chillrob: My check appears the same, maybe the teller was just having a bad day or something, I will go back tomorrow and try again, and if that dosent work, I will speak with the branch manager to see what the deal is.
Thanks for the replies everyone, I will let you know what the outcome is after tomorrow! |

If the teller's are catching them they have likely been given instruction as to what the cheques look like. Unfortunate.
Would they cash a casino cheque? Seems bizzare.
Anyways, try the ATM or another bank.
Hopefully the US banks don't slowly stop taking cheques from these institutions. This crap is getting crazier and crazier. |

| I cashed a UB check with a state Credit Union. I was less than thrilled to see Ultimate Bet printed on the check. The teller did seem to do some extra checking and said it was because she "hadn't seen a check like that before". |
