Here's a quick thought regarding electronic transfers etc.
Since I live in Washington state, Canada is a quick 1/2 day drive.
Could a US citizen open a canadian banking account and use it to fund Neteller etc?
Something tells me this is too easy. Anyone know why this wouldn't work? |

| You need a Canadian bank account and a utility bill with a Canadian address. There has been speculation that a Canadian cell phone that bills to a PO Box might do the trick. I don't know. |

I'm not sure if Canadian Banks will open a bank account for someone without a Canadian address.
I worked with a Scotsman who was contracting on one of my projects. He was going to be here for a year or so and he wanted to open a bank account. He had endless troubles despite being on contract with a bank. In the end I think they were able to internally pull some strings for him.
Also, I know that Neteller tracks IP addresses so you might have trouble signing into your account or using the deposit functions at Neteller if you are signing in from the US, but I really don;t know about that one. |

called 2 banks on saturday about opening an account as a us resident. The first bank's operator said ( snootily) no, but she didn't bother checking for sure.
I then called CIBC, and the very helpful operator checked and then said yes you can. He said this has come up before. He even encouraged me to give him some preliminary info. so the procees would be easier when I go there to open an account. He also researched the closest bank to me.
I made it clear that I had a US address and not a canadian one.
He did say you had to do it in person an show ID. He made a point of telling me that I will not have to give them my SS#.
He was very helpful and cordial and seemed to really want my business.
The problem I think is the poker sites themselves. I think you will need a non-US IP etc..
Hope this helps and other information is shared back particularly on how to get around Party's prohibition for US players. |

I'm a Canadian and just moved back to US.
Opened an NT acct linked to my Canadian Bank while in Canada for the last 9 months and they never asked for any bills etc....just my CDN address, phone number and Bank info.
Neteller will lock my CDN acct if I now try to log in from here(California) just as they did when I went to Canada and tried to log-in to my then US acct from Ontario.(NT transferred my funds from the US acct they closed to the CDN one they opened with no problem)
One thing I am curious about,if anyone knows, is...while in Canada I applied for the NT card and I'm not sure if I try to make a withdrawal at a US ATM if it will go through as it's linked to the CDN NT acct.
Also seems some sites (that have barred US players) use the IP address to ban and others only ban you based on the US address that you typed in upon sign-up.
e.g. I can still log-in and play at Titan while in US but not Party and I signed up for both(using my Canadian address) while in Canada. |

I don't know about titan, but I remember there was a spam reply posted on CP forum of a site that offered canadian addresses and a canadian mastercards for a price. This site did not offer IP proxies. It had a list of sites it claimed you could play on with a CD address and CC. I don't remember if titan was one of them or not. i didn't pay much attention because I thought without Party, why bother?. I have since gone back to CP forum and can't find this post now. Assuming it got deleted.
I recently checked Ipoker's traffic at PokerScout and it has a lot more traffic than I thought, so maybe titan would be a good option.
Sorry I can't help anymore. If you find anything else out, I would greatly appreciate Info.. |

You can also phone Neteller and ask them to turn IP address validation off. I had to do this because my work was picking up an IP address in the US somewhere.
Maybe they won't do this anymore with the new laws but I had mine turned off about a year ago. |

Really?
I had the problem with my other internet provider. I did not know I could ask Neteller to do that. Funny they never offered it to me, it was happening about once a week.... |

Yeah it was no problem to set up. My account was automatically suspended when I signed in from work. Now it is no problem at all. Phone them and ask about it.
But it does, hypothetically, expose you to more fraud risk. |
