I have long held that learning how to play poker is the most important thing a player can do to be profitable. Second only to how is where. Where you play poker can make a big difference to your profitability. This is the essence of bonus chasing - playing where its going to be more profitable.
Anyone who has been around online poker for the past few years knows that poker bonus chasing is not what it used to be. First the sites got more sophisticated about bonuses, making them less juicy. Then my government did what governments are inclined to do - screw things up. They killed Neteller (for Americans and Canadians), frightened Firepay into suicide, chased off most of the other payment processors, and intimidated half the poker networks into refusing American business.
What has not changed, however, is that it still matters where you play poker. Taking advantage of poker promotions can still add 2-3 BB/100 to your earn rate as a $3/6 and lower grinder. It is substantial.
The problem is that it has become somewhat disquieting and annoying to exploit the bonuses. I was sitting with money at 6 poker sites the night ePassporte, without any warning, stopped providing service. Not a great feeling. For me the amount of cash that I have to figure out how to extricate from my various accounts is not significant, but this was not the case when I first started in poker. If this had happened then I would have been full of fear and anger. I have to assume that many players probably are.
I have spent the past few days contemplating whether or not it is worth my time to research poker promotional offers. I have concluded that it is. My reasoning is this:
-It's still very valuable to poker players outside the USA
-It's still valuable to poker players in the USA
-It amuses me
-I am not yet ready to concede defeat (I am too stubborn to let the UIEGA win)
-I have some new angles for squeezing the poker sites for some extra cash roaming around in my bulbous melon that I'd like to explore
The first thing we need is a cost-efficient way to move cash around. I'll be looking into that and posting my findings. in the meantime, I encourage all bonus chasers to take heart and stick their thumb in Bill Frist's eye.
Guilty as charged.
A former chaser now is a soley a SNG groupie at FTP (using the ITH rakeback).
I miss the days of hitting the crytos the 1st week of every month to get things going, then hitting Party, then wherever...
Screw the right wing govt jerks....I miss Party....I miss the Crytos and I miss the surplus of sofer players that were playing for 'fun'
hopefully things will turn around sooner than later.

Damn have I been away so long already that Epassporte is already a no go? Bull have you looked into getting a pre paid visa? I think it is like $3.99 to deposit up to $500 on it. Granted this does nothing for you on how to move money around from site to site without trading with friends or waiting on a check. Anyways anyone interested on how to get a pre paid Visa PM me. Maybe I am being paranoid but I would rather not make the web site public.

Wes, many of the prepaid visa's no longer work and it still leaves you in a bind when trying to pull money out. A huge chaser I was at one point and now just rely on rakeback. Kinda sucks.
