ok so i had a great run the last two weeks just playing some tourneys, and have decided that i need to get back playing poker. I am taking out all but 2k in winnings to start my new bank roll. i am looking for advice, really any and all. I consider Limit Hold'em my best/consistent winning game, but also feel comfortable playing Sng's/tourneys. I have played some PLO also and will eventually get back into that as the players tend to be so uneducated about the game. I plan to start back at 2/4 limit, and once i have won 100bb or at 2400 total will progress to 3/6 with 400x the bb bankroll.
I already have pokertracker and gametime+ also.
I guess i also need to post this in the bonus section b/c any advice on bonuses would help esp with rakebacks. I already have acct's with the major players including these: Pokerstars, party poker, Pokerroom, holdempoker, fulltilt, sun poker, william hill, interpoker, paradise, and absolute that i can recall now. I typically play w/o focus on bonuses at party poker, pokerstars and paradise esp for tourneys.
ok well thanks in advance for the advice, if this needs to be moved to bonuses section go ahead.
thanks

I play with a very large bankroll, always play for bonuses and rakeback, and it has finally enabled me to turn a corner. I play with the insane bankroll rule of 2000 BB, (not that I'm recomending that to anyone but I like it).
Basically, 200 BB downswings would upset me. I just recently checked my results and realized I had a 200 BB downswing and I hadn't even noticed. I feel good that I've gotten to the point where a downswing of that size doesn't bother me. Don't get me wrong, I'm constantly trying to fix leaks and improve and realize that 200 BB is something to be concerned about. It's just from a bankroll point of view it doesn't phase me.
If I was playing on a 300 or 400 BB bankroll a 200 BB downswing definately would bum me out. And 200 BB downswings are inevitable even for players much stronger than me (especially when like me you spend part of your time playing 2 and 3 handed).
Bonuses and rakebacks also take the sting out of downturns. When I say a 200 BB downturn I'm talking about results before bonuses or rakeback. The affect on my bankroll is much less than 200 BB.
I realize my bankroll standards are extreme, but thought my perspective might be useful to you. |

Could you elaborate on the sites that offer rakebacks, and if possible, describe how that works exactly. This is something I have never run across and would like to take advantage of if it is feasible.
not trying to hijack your thread harrris, maybe the info would be of value to you too |

I think more accurately I should have said...
bonuses or rakeback.
Most sites don't let you accrue both at the same time (the exceptions I know of are Absolute and Cryptos)
And WPEX gives 100% rakeback to everyone.
Not surprisingly, the play on all 3 of those sites is tougher than average. |
