Note on my shortstack: I was given $10 to play, free. I've been trying to "make something happen with it." I've been on a rollercoaster with it almost doubling to almost busting out. I have it up to $15.20. I am taking $5 shots each time hoping to increase.
Anyway, TT UTG, raise? After he reraises me I have to call it correct? Have to see a flop and hope for something huge.
$0.05/$0.1 Pot Limit Holdem

Stacks:
UTG Hero ($4.90)
UTG+1 linqbait ($25.15)
MP Skills1981 ($3.05)
CO xx El Grosso xx ($4.00)
BTN MrYingYong ($11.50)
SB GAN241 ($10.75)
BB Williegb ($10.20)
Pre-flop: ($0.15, 7 players) Hero is UTG
Hero raises to $0.35, 1 fold, Skills1981 calls $0.35, xx El Grosso xx raises to $0.60, 3 folds, Hero calls $0.25, Skills1981 calls $0.25
Flop: ($1.95, 3 players)
Hero checks, Skills1981 bets $1, xx El Grosso xx calls $1, Hero folds
So, I didn't think a cbet was in order due to the action preflop. I felt if I did bet out he would just raise me again. This may be an error in thinking. Anyway, I felt I was beaten and laid it down. Was this ok?
Turn: ($3.95, 2 players)
Skills1981 goes all-in $1.45, 1 fold
Final Pot: $3.95 |

| PF is fine, it's only a small reraise and not pot-sized. I like your check on the flop, and once two people are interested in the pot with the two overcards you can't continue so the fold is good. |

I kinda like that you post hands like these here. Which are hands that happen often, are tough to play, and tough to figure out if the play is correct.
99-JJ from EP are tough to play in general, and this is a good example. On this board there are two overcards, even hands like AK have pretty decent equity here, and you are not even sure of having two outs. You cannot really call or raise, so folding is the best option here.
Nothing wrong about this hand. If someone 3bets you light, you hold TT, and the board comes with two overcards, and they cbet, nothing can be done about it. 4betting preflop is also not really an option without very specific reads, folding after his small 3bet is also not that great. In short, nothing wrong here. |

I think you played this hand fine. Middle pairs are tough to play, especially if you look at them as something that they are not, which is a very strong hand. Much of the time they are the best hand preflop but overcards are going to come on the flop much of the time.
I don't play them much different than small pairs which is for set value. The biggest difference are those times when the board is all unders.
In this hand, you are out of position, there are two overs, and the board is conencted and dual tone. You might have the best hand but you aren't much of a favorite to any likely draw in this spot and in some cases you are probably statistically behind. |
