I think the check on 5th is okay and a bet would have been okay also. I'm pretty surprised that villian didn't bet on 5th but he probably suspected you might check raise. I think the king on 6th simply got him up and down (I think he has split tens here or three hearts to start).
I think a check / call on the river is the right play and since he also checked, he either missed his straight or is afraid his two pair aren't good.
