Villain is a decent aggressive player. My line?

Well you're behind to a set or a two pair hand. I'd be surprised if he played them than aggressively - he might give you a card to "catch up" before he put it all in. He could have lots of draws if he is aggro enough to play hands like 64 from the blinds. The combo draws and flush draws with overs are ahead but you're ahead of an oesd. You're ahead of the one pair hands that he wasn't slow playing preflop.

You'd still have some chips left if you folded but a double up would put you in pretty good shape. You aren't far ahead of his range but I think I'd roll the dice here. If you had a read that said he wouldn't do this on a draw then I think you could lay it down but against an aggressive player I think I'm calling and hope it holds up.

This is a tough one. This could be a flush draw, underpair, overpair or simply making a move with something like AK/AQ/AJ. On the other hand, he could also have a set and is trying to protect against any flush draw you may be on.

I want to say call, but I know in reality I'd wimp out and fold this.

I'm not being much help here really.

x2.

I wouldn't put him on two pair, but his range can be from set to flush draw. I'm thinking, unless he has 7's or 8's and is making a move thinking you have two big cards, you are behind right here. Its a tough spot, but I'm not putting my tourney life to the test here. You did invest a big portion of your stack and in the heat of the moment, I'd consider if I was invested enough to call, but folding here doesn't make your situation critical.

The problem is that even if you're ahead you are a dog to the most likely drawing hands (flush draws with overs). I am tempted to wimp out as well. Isn't the PFR on the skinny side btw?

Sorry I waited so long to respond, but for whatever reason, I'm not getting the reply emails....

Skinny side? This deep, 2.5BB raises tend to get the job done as often as 3BB or 4BB, so I went a bit over 2.5BB.

He showed JJ. This spot comes up often enough [and the results also] that I'm really at a loss for how to play this better. If he was a complete monkey I could get away from the hand. But since he was an aggressive pot-stealer, I thought I had him beat. Obviously, if an overcard fell I could get away also....

J J is about the last thing I would put him on here. I think there is no way for you to play the hand better, and against an opponent such as you described, I believe Hellmuth goes broke here too.

You can't ignore the amount of luck required to win these, and PP vs PP on a board of under cards is a prime scenario for a big pot. Unfortunate, sorry.
