I'm playing $0.05/$0.10 on Mansion at the moment and my bankroll is $40. I've only just started on Mansion and wanted to turn the $40 into about $400 just as an accomplishment.
I've been playing 5 years and have never been a losing player at $0.05/$0.10. Does this mean I can risk having only 4 buyins?

Normally it takes 20 buy-in minimum to move up a level safely. However, at these levels it's pretty easy to build up a bankroll and risk a bit more. It's up to you. If the $40 doesn't mean much to you and you wouldn't mind losing it with some unlucky sessions, go for it. I wouldn't do it and no, it isn't enough to move up.
Look at it from a different perspective. Taking $400 to 100NL is a bad play, so even though the stakes are smaller, overall it's a bad play. If you wanna gamble, go for it and build a roll sufficient enough to move up from there which would be around $200.
