In 5 days and 5k+ hands !!!!!!!!!!!
I was running bad....flopping sets and consistently losing to runner runner backdoor gutshots etc.....but the players were really bad so I didn't mind. The problem is I turned into one of them. Have to hold my hand up and say I was tilting. It was a really slow creep from mild amusement to mild frustration to finding myself up all night trying to get one up on the players taking my chips. They never kept them long. They just sucked out on me and then redistributed them to everyone else at the table.....I know this is good.....but it doesn't feel good. Anyway finally realised that I was getting unlucky too often and was now playing into the hands of the good players. I had a look at some of my hand histories and there's some real horrors in there. I've now dropped down 2 levels and will step up to one below where I was when my confidence returns and try and repair my BR.
I had been running really well (about 4 or 5 BB/100) and knew it would turn at some point but this has been brutal. |

This is getting silly.
Having dropped down 2 levels I can take the financial side of the beats a little better but it's still doing my head in a bit.
last session 400 hands flopped 3 sets, lost runner runner on all three, in fact 4 when i folded a FH on the river w 55 on Q52-Q-2....after loads of turn action (The 3rd FH I'd lost with). KK & AA crashing every which way. I've kept a lid on the spewing I did last week and have set time limits on my play so I don't get tired and morph into a donkey.
BUT FOR GODS SAKE, GIVE ME A BREAK. |

and while I'm venting bile:
The bloody rake is ridiculous at 0.5/1 6max limit.......or maybe it seems that way because it is dwarfing my paltry winnings by about 7-1. |

hehehe .. thats it mate ...
Hopefully im retireing as the ITH ranter and im quite willing for you to step into my place ..
Never forget that short term is EVERYTHING in poker !
Maybe now is the time to play NL ... make those suckers pay to outdraw you
5k is nothing really though ... pffft .. mine is running at 50k plus hands ... and the only reason ive not been ranting lately is the fact ive not been playing ..
But this is the good news ... ive now started a LAG style so ( without question ) this is going to cause a heap of variance and ill be ranting big style again pretty damn soon ! |

I know how you feel Pentahouve, I've recently been on a 300BB downswing in 6k hands at 5/10 6max limit. My bankroll can take it at the moment so I've not dropped down as yet but the unnerving thing is that I'm still not sure if I'm a long term winner at 5/10. I'm running at 2.42 BB/100 over 30k hands of 5/10 but this is too small a sample to determine a true winrate.
I've been getting insanely unlucky during the downswing (my Poker Tracker stats back this up) but Im just going to keep working at my game and not worry too much about it. Swings of 300BB are fairly common in 6max so I'm not going to over analyze everything. I've changed poker rooms recently in order to psychologically forget the beats at the other room and I'm up 100BB this week so touch wood variance may be swinging back my way.
Just try and stick with it. |

Hopefully you'll be raving more often than ranting. I saw your post on one of the other rant threads about a 4 month run. I hope you come out of it soon.
Well, I just went out shopping and decided to buy a scratch card. I think the main reason was for comedic effect (as they're not exactly +ev), giving me reason to rant about how I hadn't won the £100,000 that I obviously deserved due to my poor run of form on the tables. I actually made £12...11 profit.....which has left me a little non-plussed. I guess it's a sign that I should move up to the $10/20 tables immediately as I'm obviously golden now |

Thanks for the words of encouragement mconstab. I'm sorry to hear about your downswing.
Changing rooms might be an idea for me but more in order to get rake back. I'm playing at Stars at the moment and miss my RB from UB (but can't stomach going there, though I've still got about $40 there and try my hand at NL every now and then). I was at Cake but there wasn't enough traffic. |
