I have just gone through my worst stretch since I started playing these over a year ago. 19 without cashing. These are the 9-27 person tourney's on Stars. most were $20, but I had to drop down to $10's based on the advice from my BR manager.
It's over now and I hope it never comes back. I was curious what kind of cash droughts others have experienced?
Thanks,

| I just got over a little bit of a dry spell...about 10 45 or 180 SNGs. Broke out of it by 2 final tables, so that was nice. |

Missing the cash in that many tourney's you start questioning everything you think you know. I know I made some dumb moves, I always do, but usually it balances out with a few suckouts. When you combine a lack of suckouts with your KK, and AA losing more than 50%, you get a nice run into hell world.

I think my longest dry spell in SNGs is 12, but that's single-table only. More tables, I'd expect longer.
You really do have to work at getting past the idea that you suck when you hit one of these spells, just as you have to make sure you realize that you're not a poker god when you run at 100% ROI for a week. I still struggle with both after thousands of them, though. |

| I was running so well on FTP and suddenly every time I went all-in favorite I would lose. MY ROI% dropped from 24% to 13% in 2 weeks. I know my play got worse as the losing continued so I cut back to 1 or 2 SNGs a day rather than the 20 I was playing until I get a handle on my play. |

I recently went about 13 without a cash on single tables only. I had a spell where I was constantly losing when dominating, e.g. KK<AK, AK<AJ, etc.
Thankfully, that's over with and I seem to running well at the moment at both single and two-table SNGs.
If you want to post some hands, maybe we can spot something in your game that you've missed. It helped me a lot by doing that. I can even put the HH of a SNG up on PokerXFactor if you want so we can see the whole tournament. Just PM me if you want me to do this for you. |

Thanks Maff, I appreciate the offer. I'll keep it in mind as I play and if one comes up that seems a good candidate I'll PM you.
I know a part of it is I'm trying to move up. The $10 games are much easier. The number of dumb moves much higher. At the $20's people make fewer mistakes. If I don't get cards, I often get blinded down, end up pushing short stacked and even if I have a 60/40 I'm gone 4 out of 10. Makes it hard to break even when you don't cash in the other 6.

I remember going through $8K in the Party $100s and $200s in less than a week a good while back.
I gave the bloody things up as they were endangering the life of the girlfriend's cat. |

I'm going through a phase right now where I can't win when I'm ahead, behind, or in a coin flip. It's enraging to say the least. In fact, I can't remember once in my life that I ran this bad...it's driving me ballistic.
If I didn't have so much damn time on my hands right now I'd put it down for a long stretch. |

After placing in the cash my last 2 SNG's, I've taken a break away from poker all together. Wife and kids are leaving town for 5 weeks so I'm takin a step away from poker until they leave. I play MUCH better when they aren't around, so I'm looking forward to getting back to winning my fair share. Hopefully the next 5 weeks will be good to me so I have plenty of cash for Vegas..only time will tell.
These spells will come and go, it's part of the territory. Currently reading the Poker Mindset, so I'm beginning to understand what it takes mentally rather than just skill wise. If ya guys haven't read it, I'd recommend reading it. |

I was glad to find the word "cat" at the end of that sentence.
I have now worked my way back to having a "Hot" rating in Sharkscope. Persevere there Dude, it will turn around.

| It's just frusterating. I had like $500 in FTP, then I withdraw 350, leaving myself the standard 150 to play with. In 24 hours I've managed to lose 100 of it...playing $5 STT and MTT's! It's pretty wild how bad I'm running, it's never been this bad before. So I went from playing $10 STT's to now playing $2 STT's. Goddamn it, I have a long haul ahead of me...especially if I don't start running better. |

| When things like this happen to me, I keep my dough in the site but take a month or so off. If I move down limits, I tend to blow my entire bankroll from tilting due to moving a limit down. If you notice yourself playing badly at the lowered limits, I'd take a break. If you're playing optimal, I'd recommend playing in the micro NL (.05/.10 is beefy), there is a ton of cash to be made. |
