PKR Software

PKR's software is state-of-the-art and unlike any poker software, anywhere. After setting up their account information, players design their poker avatar. This includes everything from male/female to hair and eye color, clothing being worn and facial hair and voice characteristics. Players can also purchase the ability, with PKR Points, to upload their own picture into the PKR database and have the PKR software render their likeness for a truly unique avtar appearance. As players increase their Club PKR standings and earn PKR Points, they are allowed to redeem their PKR Points for in-game wardrobe accessories and new and improved chip tricks.

Game table play is fluid-like. Players have a whole list of tells they can give off. Player cards are seen initially, then the player avatar has to re-look at the cards if the player forgets what he has. Dealer actions, player actions and voices and mannerisms are all present at the table. Players can put "tags" on their opponents listing them as anything ranging from sharks to rocks to fish. However, what players cannot do is take notes on their opponents. Avatars, the backbone of PKR, cannot be turned off, which means that game play for those players with slow machines or inadequate memory can and will be problematic. There is no four-color deck option. Likewise, player statistics are non-existent. Hand histories can be viewed from a tab on the right side of the table screen.

The main menu frontpages are well laid-out and easy to understand and follow. Players have a very easy time moving from page to page and seeing all the information. The only drawback is that there is no "Number of players seeing the flop" statistic, which hinders table selection.

Overall, what PKR brings to the online poker world is poker with a fresh face. The gameplay, software and antics the players can participate in as well as the rich graphics and emotive avatars are definitely a step in a new and untapped mode of online poker.

Despite the amazing graphics, PKR lacks some of the fundamental necessities of online poker, like player statistics, note-taking functions, player seeing the flop percentages and 4-color deck options.

PKR Traffic

PKR's traffic has improved by leaps and bounds since they have energed on the online poker scene in 2006. Where once they were averaging 600-1,200 players at any one time, they now boast a player base that regularly sees PKR hosting 10,000-15,000 players during the week and upwards to 20,000 players on the weekend.

PKR Games

PKR offers a variety of games, tournaments and Sit and Gos. Texas Hold'em is the mainstay.

Hold'em is offered in Fixed Limit with stakes ranging from $0.02/$0.04 to $10/$20. Pot Limit is offered from PL10 through PL400. Neither of these forms of Hold'em receive much traffic. No Limit is offered with buy-ins ranging from NL2 to NL1000, with a majority of the action at the lower buy-ins, although NL200 is usually played.

PKR offers Omaha High and Omaha Hi/Lo, but neither form of poker receives any traffic.

Multi-table tournaments are offered and players can enter tournaments ranging from freerolls to money added tournaments to freezeouts up to and including $20+$2 buy-ins.

Sit and Gos are offered at PKR with buy-in ranging from $1+$0.20 to $50+$5 events. Players have a choice of heads-up, 6 max and full table SnGs, but PKR does not offer multi-table SnGs at this time.

PKR Promotions

A tournament overlay is the result of guaranteed prize money that is not offset by the participant's buy-ins. As such, all freerolls and Player Point freerolls always offer an overlay.
