PKR Software

PKR's software is state-of-the-art and unlike any poker software, anywhere. After setting up their account information, players design their poker avatar. This includes everything from male/female to hair and eye color, clothing being worn and facial hair and voice characteristics. As players increase their Club PKR standings and earn PKR Points, players are allowed to redeem their PKR Points for in-game wardrobe accessories and new and improved chip tricks.

Game table play is fluid-like. Players have a whole list of tells they can give off. Player cards are seen initially, then the player avatar has to re-look at the cards if the player forgets what he has. Dealer actions, player actions and voices and mannerisms are all present at the table. Players can put "tags" on their opponents listing them as anything ranging from sharks to rocks to fish. However, what players cannot do is take notes on their opponents. Avatars, the backbone of PKR, cannot be turned off, which means that game play for those players with slow machines or inadequate memory can and will be problematic. There is no four-color deck option. Likewise, player statistics are non-existent. Hand histories can be viewed from a tab on the right side of the table screen.

The main menu frontpages are well laid-out and easy to understand and follow. Players have a very easy time moving from page to page and seeing all the information. The only drawback is that there is no "Number of players seeing the flop" statistic, which hinders table selection.

Overall, what PKR brings to the online poker world is poker with a fresh face. The gameplay, software and antics the players can participate in as well as the rich graphics and emotive avatars are definitely a step in a new and untapped mode of online poker.

Despite the amazing graphics, PKR lacks some of the fundamental necessities of online poker, like player statistics, note-taking functions, player seeing the flop percentages and 4-color deck options.

PKR Traffic

PKR's traffic has increased significantly since they launched in 2006 and since my initial review of them in Septemeber of that year. They are consistently running in the 5-7,000 range daily and their overall traffic is a reflection of the games they spread, their software and their well-run pokersite operation.

PKR Games

PKR offers a variety of games, tournaments and Sit and Gos. Texas Hold'em is the mainstay.

Hold'em is offered in Fixed Limit with stakes ranging from $0.02/$0.04 to $10/$20. Pot Limit is offered from PL10 through PL400. Neither of these forms of Hold'em receive much traffic. No Limit is offered with buy-ins ranging from NL2 to NL1000, with a majority of the action at the lower buy-ins, although NL200 is usually played.

PKR offers Omaha High and Omaha Hi/Lo, but neither form of poker receives any traffic.

Multi-table tournaments are offered and players can enter tournaments ranging from freerolls to money added tournaments to freezeouts up to and including $20+$2 buy-ins.

Sit and Gos are offered at PKR with buy-in ranging from $1+$0.20 to $50+$5 events. Players have a choice of heads-up, 6 max and full table SnGs, but PKR does not offer multi-table SnGs at this time.

Security

PKR uses 128-bit SSL encryption software [the same level of encryption used by the banking industry] to protect it's clients and itself from hackers. PKR utilizes the services of Internet Content Rating Association (ICRA) filtering, which allows parents to block access to gambling sites such as PKR from the use of children. PKR also uses state-of-the-art anti-collusion software and expert players to identify and thwart online collusion.

PKR Customer Service

PKR provides customer support via site email, 24/7 live chat and toll-free telephone. The site email support is fast and friendly, with answers to player's questions both easily understood and accurate to the questions being asked. Players using the 24/7 live chat option will find their waiting minimal and clearly and concisely answered. Cashout speed is somewhat slow, but should increase both with PKR's emergence in the online poker world, and with tenureship of it's players.

Poker Tracker Compatibility

PKR is incompatible with Poker Tracker in both cash game and tournament environments.

Ability to Multitable

PKR allows players to multi-table four [4] tables concurrently, although they suggest two tables, as the software and graphics requirements and speed can be directly affected.

Multiple Accounts per Household

PKR limits the number of accounts to one per person, per household as their default allowance. If more than one person in the household would like a PKR account, they suggest contacting their customer service team.

Reload Bonus Frequency

PKR has not been around long enough to offer a reload bonus to it's customers. This category will remain unrated until such a time as ITH can determine the frequency of reloads.

Tournaments with Overlays

A tournament overlay is the result of guaranteed prize money that is not offset by the participant's buy-ins. As such, all freerolls and Player Point freerolls always offer an overlay.

PKR doesn't offer any guaranteed tournaments at this time, but they do offer several freerolls and money added cash tournaments each day. As such their are many overlays currently being offered.

Maximum Amount of Bonus

PKR's maximum initial deposit bonus is $2000.

Bonuses Cleared During Tournaments

Players get 100 PP points for every $1 they spend in entry fees. This applies to a players entry fee only and not to re-buys. This is equivalent to an 80% rakeback on tournament fee expenditures.

Time Allowed to Clear Bonus

Players have 60-90 days to clear the deposit bonus at PKR, dependent on the bonus.

Withdrawal Restrictions

PKR makes no stipulation that your deposit must stay at their site in full prior to finishing their bonus. ITH suggests waiting 48 hours from the time of deposit before requesting a cashout.

Are Bonuses Stackable?

As a rather young site and having only just offered it's first sign-up bonus the staff at PKR is unsure of whether future reload bonuses will be stackable. ITH will update this information should it change or be made available.
